A woman has pleaded guilty to throwing a milkshake over Nigel Farage. Victoria Thomas Bowen has pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to assault by beating and criminal damage. She threw a milkshake over the Reform UK leader outside a pub in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, during the general election campaign on June 4. Farage was doused in the McDonald’s milkshake as he left the Moon and Starfish Wetherspoon pub in the Essex seaside town. She had originally denied the charges [Silly cow] and was due to go on trial this morning, but she changed her please to guilty just before proceedings started. Deputy senior district judge Tan Ikram adjourned sentencing to December 16 and told the defendant: ‘You have pleaded guilty to, in my judgment, two serious charges. This was an unprovoked, targeted attack now on an elected member of parliament. I take a serious view of these offences. I am seeking a pre-sentence report which will consider all options for sentence.’ metro.co.uk/2024/10/21/woman-admits-throwing-milkshake-nigel-farage-21835185/I'll be honest, I don't think she deserves a prison sentence. Yes she's a silly cow but throwing a milkshake at someone does not in my opinion deserve a custodial sentence. www.oblaw.co.uk/assault-by-beating-as-a-first-offence-in-england-and-walesLooks to me like lawyers have a different view Someone asked what assault by beating meant It is the former offence of assault and battery To be guilty of this there must be an intent to assault, there must be contact, and there must have been force. The battery need not be a beating, any physical contact suffices including spitting. Had it been acid as Jo brand incited people to do to avoid wasting milk, the charge would be ABH or maybe GBH depending on the severity of the damage

I disagree the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861 covers all aspects of Assault
You do not even have to lay a hand on anyone , a verbal threat can and is sufficient enough
" What is assault?
Under English law, there are three main types of Assault: Common Assault, Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) and Wounding / Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH).
Several offences fall under each of these main types of Assault, and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) will decide what offence to charge a person with depending on many factors, including the parties involved, the nature of the alleged Assault, the location of the Assault, and what evidence they have.
It is important to understand that Assault offences entail a broad range of actions – from threatening words to serious bodily injuries – which vary considerably in severity. Much will depend on what is alleged to have occurred and what evidence can be adduced to support the allegation.
Special characteristics of the alleged perpetrator and victim are also taken into account. Indeed, what counts as Assault against one person may not count as Assault against another. For someone facing an Assault charge, this can make the criminal charging and trial processes very confusing.
For the most part, Assault Offences are contained in the Criminal Justice Act of 1988 and the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861 "

Is there a point to this comment? What point do you want? You're the one who mentioned it. Do you think the judge's ethnicity is relevant somehow?

You're the one who mentioned it. Do you think the judge's ethnicity is relevant somehow? Why don't you ask fiddles? He seems to think that cultural background affects attitudes and decision making. And, being of Asian Muslim ethnicity, he should know.

You're the one who mentioned it. Do you think the judge's ethnicity is relevant somehow? Nowadays ethnicity of any person performing any duty is taken as relevant.

But this isn't about what this woman 'might' have done - it's about what she actually did do. Indeed, and I think some people are confusing what she actually did do, with what they say she might have done. It's ridiculous.

Personally, I'd like to see her sent down. You might have a point here, because it is clear the reason she did it was for financial gain. She's a porn actress.
We can't have people making their career by interfering with our system of government.
