After a career in the legal profession, he was elected to Parliament in a by-election in 2000 and was soon appointed by Tony Blair as a health minister.
When Gordon Brown became prime minister, he handed Lammy the role of universities minister.

I have a first class honours degree. The only use I have in this context is that I can see how people are literally being programmed through an aggressive long-term indoctrination program. Once you're aware of it you see the world differently. Sadly, it can take away some enjoyment (ignorance is bliss), but at least your mind is your own. |

At the age of 10, he was awarded an Inner London Education Authority choral scholarship to sing at Peterborough Cathedral and attend The King's School, Peterborough. Lammy studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, graduating with a 2:1 in law.

They don't sound it as they have the gift of the gab, as in the public school accent which fools a lot of people. You can only really find it out if you asked them a particular question which needs an exact answer. You never see the media ask them something of this sort, so they can ramble a load of waffle at the audience. A lot of people are like this. They know thier own particular job, but anything else and they are entirely vacuous. |
