The Scottish heritage link to Syria is oft cited and well known but difficult to pinpoint. There is the existence of curly hair and darker skin colouring in some border areas and I had a friend who was exactly that. The point as always is that it was known exactly what the attacker looked like and every effort was made to direct the country to a different conclusion. The suspicion was immediately raised because if the attacker had been a white youth that would have been the first information out there to stop speculation. I ask again: So what does someone born in Wales look like? Re the emboldened bit above: no effort was made to hide anything, it was reported he was born in Wales, he WAS born in Wales. All The Best It doesn't matter what UK town or city the police name drop to make things better, the penny will drop when we see the pictures of the culprits.

It was well reported at the time that they Police and Home Office were keen to manage the flow of information so as not to inflame tensions - that ended up biting them in the arse. Publishing facts is what stops speculation - not hoping for the best. Question: had the perpetrator been white would you, or anyone else in this thread, cared that the law wanted to protect his identity? I don't think you would. All The Best You are making assumptions and of course you can think what you like. Had the perpetrator been white we would know he was a white youth as that info would have been released irrespective of any need to protect identity. I agree I am making assumptions as well of course my assumptions are based on observing what has actually happened over the years.

Being pedantic whether he’s an evil young man has yet to be decided by a court. The fact that three young children have died in a horrific way has been lost in all this and whilst it has brought out the best in some definitely the worst in others who have sought to make political capital out of this by using the frustrations of people who feel disregarded, ignored by people in govt who have for decades held a vision not shared by everyone. The far right whoever they are though culpable for for using the ignored and frustrated are only able to do so because of the those govts,Sheepy said earlier in the thread He is right and if somethings not done it can only get worse, there’s no short easy fix but keeping a lid on short term requires the poor bloody infantry in this case the police cracking a few skulls.

All The Best We are dealing with the normal expectation and we know that the expectation is not like someone from Africa. When we hear Men of Harlech we do not envisage a band of Zulus singing we would expect to see people who look like Ivor Novello, Nigel Greene or Richard Davies. That is human nature and those who release information know this. Surely you are not saying, and believing, that that thought is furthest from their minds?

Perhaps one of the reasons why Merseyside Police decided to state where the lad was born, was because of so much disinformation and false information which has been circulating, and used to cause thuggery, violent unrest and criminality.
Rumours circulated that he was an Asylum Seeker ... He isn't
Rumours circulated that he was an immigrant ... He isn't
Rumours circulated that he was a Muslim ... He isn't
Maybe, just maybe, the police were trying to put the record straight and put a stop to what was happening on our streets - would anyone have a problem with that. ?

Which of course is the point that the news is being manipulated to counter false accusations with limited known information. On the face of it I agree but then information then becomes a tool of the state to disseminate, as seen fit, to the populace to keep order. Was there a lot of violent disorder and thuggery before the release of the born in Wales info? I do not recall that, that seems to have been released to allay any fears as opposed to counter any rumours. The rumours seem to have started much later with the lack of information and the ubiquitous 'not believed to be terror related'.

The rumours began instantly, they did not start "much later on", the attrocious and highly disrespectfull behaviour of the far right happened the day after the murders of the three girls in Southport. The Judge in the preliminary hearing took the unusual, or unprecedented step to release details about the culprit, who would in normal circumstance NOT have had his name released, as per what the law sets out. The police CANNOT release the name of any criminal suspect who is a minor (under 18) unless a Court allows them to, there was never any cover-up, except in the minds of the the propogandists.

So I suppose you are inferring or hinting that people of Rwandan heritage are naturally or normally murderers, child killers or mostly criminal minded. ? You are linking the fact that this person has black African parents with the fact that he murdered three innocent children, a very highly dangerous and irresponsible thing to do.

You have your timelines askew. As far as I am aware the rumours started the day after as you say but the fact he was born in Wales was released on the same day with the Rwandan parents coming much later on that day. 'Not believed to be terror related' was almost the first bit of information thrown out there.
