here's what reeve said a day later , confirming the labour gov would not be building council houses in England.... NEW: Rachel Reeves has announced that Labour will not spend public money on building houses.
This indicates that the party won't be building any new council houses, as that would require public spending. Corbyn promised to build 100,000 council homes per year (£75bn cost).
no it doesn't at all you sore loser lol ok , before you resort to insults because I asked you a question , can you please show me where Pacificos post is fake news? labours announcement is about relaxing planning laws in England , and hoping private builders do the rest. They are not planning to build council houses. If you think they are , it's not being nasty or a sore loser to ask can you show us the evidence?

Labour has announced plans to build on the "grey belt", as it tries to meet its pledge for 1.5 million new homes over the next five years.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves said an overhaul of planning rules would see councils in England expected to prioritise building on brownfield sites and poor quality areas in the green belt.

Its laughable. I can see why you only got a third of the vote last week and no mandate. Surely a concrete policy of council house building from the current uk government can't be that hard to post?

You have now made yourself look stupid , not for the first time I might add. Think before calling people out I suggest.

Think before calling people out I suggest. tell you what has soon has the first house is built i call you out I will tell you something even better. Just like last time , when new labour in thirteen years built less council houses than thatcher , I will call YOU out on their dismal record. Change? If only. Labour’s housing plans are built on flimsy foundations, fantasies and fudge
The manifesto promises minor common-sense reforms to the planning system. But the headline proposal for new towns won’t amount to much. Where is the bold modernism of the postwar Labour government?

Even the Labour Campaign for Council Housing doesn't think that Starmers policy will build any more Council Houses...

That's a great idea, give private developers the council house contracts, with huge tax payer funded government grants as in incentive, which will bring down the building cost so the developers make even more profit, once built flog them off to investors who can rent them out as exorbitant rents.
Wait till the penny drops for those Labour voters, they'll be kicking themselves up and down Downing Street.

Even the Labour Campaign for Council Housing doesn't think that Starmers policy will build any more Council Houses... I suspect this is what we are going to be subject to for a while as starmer tries to settle in without a popular mandate . Empty soundbites , more vacuous policy on the hoof , and desperate cheerleading from supporters like to the left desperately hoping we are wrong and he is right. Fuck , the guardian was criticising labours housing policy weeks ago , never mind the membership that is the brothers and sisters. However deluded , at least wurzel had some concrete ideas and policy ideas , while starmer sends out monotone robots like reeve to announce policy to big fanfare that is roundly criticised as nonsensical rubbish .

Doesn't have to concrete England, there's still plenty of room to build in Scotland. Abolish devolution, reform planning laws, build new Garden Cities. Expand Dundee north to Forfar and east to Arbroath to create a new London sized Garden city called Dunforbroath.

Wait till the penny drops for those Labour voters, they'll be kicking themselves up and down Downing Street. you need to read it though fair. They aren't proposing private developers get council house contracts in England. They are hoping private developers build. the correct mix to appease labour. Its laughable.. Labour aren't addressing a housing crises by building affordable housing. They are merely making it easier for private builders to reap even more profit at house buyers expense. Expect an increase in shoddy housing , on dodgy new build estates , prone to severe flooding.
