"We made more friends..." the friendship thing , and general fans behaviour is an important point when your slow moving brain is trying to work out why all of Europe wants you to lose. Im trying to educate you Buckie. England , the billy no mates of European and world football. Go and make some more friends, sounds like you need them!

you play who is put in front of you? Ah but who decides who is in front of you is the question. Dont want to hear all your hard done by whinging about maradonna. I remember that game , and Argentina tore England apart , the hand of god was merely the icing on the cake. Maradonnas second goal when he ran past butcher and half the England team is still the greatest football goal in world history. you had no chance on earth winning that game , Argentina were on another level , so stop bleating as though the hand of god cheated you out a win. Contrast Englands route to the euro final with Spain and it's no wonder the whole of Europe is asking how you do it. Im convinced it's the Man City lawyers. If that's it's the case you can swat Maradonna's blatant cheating away at a whim, then so can I with the so-called lucky penalty against Netherlands. As for the rest of your shit, there's a conspiracy theory section on this forum. false equation though. ?You needed a penalty to beat holland , Argentina didnt need a hand of god to beat England. even the England fans are wondering how the worst manager in European football got England to euro final. The German press and others are accusing you of similar to what im posting. I fink England simply sussed out how corrupt and ripe for brown envelopes Uefa are , and hired man cities lawyers to do the rest. Honestly mate , if England win , the Scottish independence support will put statues of Southgate in George square .

Population size has alot to do with it.
Just like anything, to be a world class footballer, you are at the extremes of the population in your field.
Nations with far larger populations, statistically will just have more people of this quality. Obviously, things like how much emphasis and interest a nation has in a particular sport will also have an appeal, as will training, skill, and the effort the national team puts into playing together.
When you try to pick the top 20 males out of a large EU country like England, France, Germany, Spain etc, then at the very extremes, there is just going to stastically be more people at the very elite level to select from.
Scotland has a much lower population, and if you compare them to nations of similar population sizes (the baltics & smaller nordic countries), then you'll see those countries have also met with little success. About the only exception that comes immediately to mind, is Denmark.

I thought I would give you a breather Buckie , when you started calling me a bellend , and talking of flouncing off the forum if England lose , I could see you couldn't take much more. Nobody in the civilised world drinks that pond water the English call bitter. After drinking that watered down pish , you can see why the proper German beer went to your heads after a few pints. the pictures we saw of English lard arses dribbling after half a stein would be enough to shame even the the most brassed neck Englishman.

Oh I have spent an awful lot of time on the Continent but then I have also visited Scotland and thriving town centres , clean streets , affluence , and inside toilets were rather noticeable by their absence when compared to England (or at least my part of it) so what are you saying ? Your country controlling ours is bad for our towns and cities , and nation in general? I couldnt agree more. I see ireland is now one of the wealthiest nations in Europe , with a living standard above your nation , now they have thrown off the yolk of Westminster? prior to independence , they were one of the poorest nations in the world. Can't think why , so you might be onto something We dont control Scotland. Devolution happened years ago - so why has it not worked?

Scotland is ranked something like 11th in the Uefa co efficient out of 55 , yet only 7 nations have lower population densities than scotland. There are a multitude of factors behind why some nations are great at football and others poorer. Scotland punches far above its weight .

Can't think why , so you might be onto something We dont control Scotland. Devolution happened years ago - so why has it not worked? you control practically all of the levers of the Scottish economy ,majority of taxation ( 67.6%) , majority of welfare , immigration etc etc. The Scottish Parliament was not designed under devolution to run Scotlands economy as everyone outside of England knows. You have had over three hundred years to get scotland into shape , yet you keep telling us we are too poor to be independent . Devolution is 25 years old , and in that time , despite little real powers , scotland has improved tremendously. For example , prior to devolution , all the top areas of poverty in the uk were mainly in scotland , now they are in England and Wales. Hence the comment from the germans about the English not being used to affluence.

buckie , I keep telling you mate im absolutely torn between my natural tendency as a scot to be ABE , and my political selfishness on wanting England to win to have Scots flooding to independence support. It's a tough call. I can just see the statue of Gareth Southgate in George square in an indy scotland years from now , as the straw that broke the camels back.
