Possibly because football is not regarded as a sport in Scotland in the same way that it is in other countries, it is a sectarian duel featuring violence, drink, hatred and centuries old bigotry. Out of interest I looked at the facebook page of that revolting horrid pub that Tommo posted, look at that and you will see what I mean. It is a national tendency of the Scots to fail to have self awareness, any problem is immediately identified as originated anywhere convenient except the true source, (usually Engerland), therefore failure is rather a national trait in so many ways, football is simply an extension of that. What a load of bullshit!!! As for lack of self awareness you need only look at your own country's stupid belief that they WILL win, that they have a God given right to win. Beggars belief, but it happens every time. |

A country that boasts about how good they are, should be reaching finals. The only problem is that you don't win anything!!! The only trophy you have one saw you getting a direct entry as hosts, then played all your home matches at Wembley, and won it because of a dodgy goal. I can assure you that I am not one for thinking about England. I think you should look at yourself, though, as you seem to pay an absurd amount of time thinking about, and denigrating Scots Nope. If you looked outside the space between you ears you might notice that England is extremely critical of its football team . However our team has done vastly better than Scotland. You think about England all the time. You thought England before during and after the final . We got to the final, you didn’t get anywhere near it . Dry your eyes and suck it up. Maybe, but not nearly as well as you expected. Why the need to compare your lack of success with a country with a much lower population? The simple fact is that your country's record compares badly with the other European big footballing nations - France, Germany, Italy, Spain. I don't think about England at all. You, on the other hand obviously have a fixation with Scotland! The team I supported won the tournament, so dry your eyes and suck it up!!! |

I’d go and check the OP, this thread is about Scotland and its inability to perform at the top level. A team who’s never progressed past the group stages of the Euro’s. England are doing great right now, having been in 2 finals in the past 3 years and one of only 7 teams in the world to ever win the World Cup. So getting back on topic, why are Scotland so unable to perform and raise their game? I know exactly what the OP was about. However, the completely derogatory remarks, by Englishmen, needed a reality check. Scotland, apart from 1978 (England did not even qualify for that World Cup Finals), has never gone into an international competition thinking we were going to win it. England go into each and every competition boldly stating that "football's coming home". It never does. The English love England. The SNATs hate the English. Simple truth for you though, if Scotland had reached the final and England had been knocked out in the early stages there would be no Anyone But Scotland bollocks, I'd have been cheering Scotland on, despite your hate for England.
