If all our immigrants or sons of showed the same dedication to their trade and obvious National pride as our sportspeople do it could be . Its not because for every Bakayo Saka or Eberechi Eze there are a dozen Chris Kabas or Mark Duggans . |

Nobody's reminded me but we haven't done which league(s) have the highest number of players in the tournament.
It won't come as much surprise that the EPL comes out on top with 71, with a further 19 from the EFL meaning that one in six of all players at the tournament ply their trade in England. Italy is next with 82, then Germany with 62, Spain with 39 (surprisingly low given the ease with which Latin Americans can settle in Spain) and France with 23. Players in the national squads are not included.
Scotland has zero foreign players from its league participating in Euro24, while a majority of their own squad plays abroad, predominantly in England. In addition most of the big city clubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen have a majority of foreign players in their squads, again mostly English although Celtic curiously has more East Asians than Scots in its first team squad. That none of these foreigners are appearing at the tournament is an expression of the overall mediocrity of Scottish football in general, which extends all the way up to the national team.

These stats mean nothing to anyone but those who make them up most of all the last one that somehow thinks East Asians playing in Scotland in the competition between European countries . The remarks should be viewed in the context of the overall mediocrity of Scottish football as it is set up today. When the current champions and cup holders have more Koreans and Japanese than Scots in their first team squad there's something very much amiss.
Add to that the fact that going on for three-quarters of the national squad at Euro-24 play abroad.

I checked for you tonight DD , they were all singing . Which to be fair was the only time all night that they were singing off the same song sheet . That was up there with the poorest tournament performances Ive seen from an England team ,the game plan if there was one needs tearing up and a new one designed and enacted before next weekend when the knockouts start . Im taking it we will qualify on the 4 points we have got Im not confident Wokegate has it in him to change anything though we will stumble on maybe even get through another round or two if the draw falls in our favour but we will eventually meet a decent side and that will be that . |
