Take no notice to the race baiters, even though the Irish are white, I still call them foreigners just by their accent, so far no one has ever called any one racist if you call a Irish person living in Britain a foreigner. Would it be wrong for a black person to vote for a black candidate rather than a white one ? I'm pretty sure that they (indeed plenty of ethnic minorities) do.
I wonder how many Khan or Abbott voters actually know what their candidate stands for other than they're a member of the club?

It is not a unique problem, no one says it is. This is why diversity is a problem and seeking diversity does not of necessity bring benefits. As a generality Muslims want Muslims to represent them, black people want black people and white people want white people. In only one group is this seen as unacceptable. You're making a lot of assumptions here, as a white person I for one will thank you not to speak for me. I vote for whoever I think is best placed to make and keep Britain safe and prosperous, I couldn't care less about their ethnicity. I said as a generality. I am neither speaking for you nor assuming your point of view. Whomsoever is best placed to keep Britain safe and prosperous may be a decision partly based on the ethnicity of the candidate. Why would it be wrong to consider ethnicity as part of the process? We know that way back it was proposed that a black only party was mooted as a way to ensure engagement in the democratic process within the black community but did not come to anything. Even now we have OBV which self defines as teh home of black politics as though in some way black politics is different from politics, maybe it is and seemingly increasing black representation is their aim, so it it is not wrong there. |
