Where have acknowledged that there is the potential for conflict of interest in every demographic group?

Tbh I’m not bothered if ethnic minorities hold high office in government. However it must be acknowledged that they may be part of a culture and/ or group who do not have the majority of the UK as their priority. They might not have much in common with the majority of the people they are supposed to represent . "However it must be acknowledged that they may be part of a culture and/ or group who do not have the majority of the UK as their priority." You honestly believe that's confined to ethnic minorities? Really? It is not a unique problem, no one says it is. This is why diversity is a problem and seeking diversity does not of necessity bring benefits. As a generality Muslims want Muslims to represent them, black people want black people and white people want white people. In only one group is this seen as unacceptable.

The cult of woke lefties might see that as far right wing racism….

Sadly, my bag of shits to give appears to be empty.

I came here to discuss politics, not to constantly explain how comments like those below could be viewed as racist (and that's being generous)
'ethnic minorities born in the UK are still foreigners'
'ethnic minorities shouldn't be allowed to hold high office'
and 'I wouldn't vote for a black person'
I don't think this forum is for me. I hope some of you eventually change course in your attitudes. I wish you all peace, love and happiness, regardless of your politics or ethnicity.

But that’s not what he said is it ? Once again the knee jerk accusation of racism from a leftie who couldn’t be bothered to check before it posted .

Would it be wrong for a black person to vote for a black candidate rather than a white one ?

You're making a lot of assumptions here, as a white person I for one will thank you not to speak for me. I vote for whoever I think is best placed to make and keep Britain safe and prosperous, I couldn't care less about their ethnicity.

Take no notice to the race baiters, even though the Irish are white, I still call them foreigners just by their accent, so far no one has ever called any one racist if you call a Irish person living in Britain a foreigner.

I live in a rural community, the people in my village have an ancestry line that goes back to the Normans, they earn their living working on farms and in agricultural business, their interests and pursuits probably haven't changed much from those of their grandparents, they like fishing, fox hunting, football and darts matches in the village pub.
They will vote for someone who understands their lifestyle, their interests and someone who will try to protect their living when voting in Westminster. The colour of that person doesn't come into it, but the chances are that their favorite candidate will be white, wear wellington boots and drink cider, are they racist do you think?

Is Cliff Richard, who was born in India and whose father was born in India, eligible for high office? Wasn't Freddie Mercury born in India too? Joanna Lumley too?

Cliff Richard's great grandmother was half Welsh and half Spanish, that would preclude him in my book.
