Talking of South Africa another lefties blind spot . “ Mandela's protégé and successor as South Africa's president, Thabo Mbeki, rejected the scientific consensus and espoused the discredited view that HIV does not cause AIDS, popularized by University of California, Berkeley, molecular biologist Peter Duesberg. Mbeki's refusal to bring the resources of the government to bear against the disease is responsible for 300,000 needless deaths, researchers have estimated.” Not a peep out of lefties at the time and hardly a peep since . www.science.org/content/article/world-mourns-mandela-his-role-aids-awareness-recalledI'm sure some are getting excited about it, but are more interested in deflections. Keep trying, though.

Mrs and I regularly get emails and phone calls that are phishing for info, wanting to instal malware, and otherwise wanting to compromise our computers and/or get our personal details.
We've also had our credit/debit cards cloned.
Such theft happens, and I understand how it can be worrying for people not so familiar with today's technology. Telling them not to respond to texts or emails, or immediately phone their bank or Police doesn't sink in...
I am really genuinely sorry to read this, and I know how heartbreaking this can be, and I hope we all come together on this forum regardless of our politics to condemn this despicable crime.
I have personal experience of this type of fraud with my employees, and I am going to tell you ...... this crime destroys lives.
These fraudsters are well ahead of the game, and the only way they could be is by using Government data bases..... no ifs.... no .. buts.
Exactly, but the police are woefully inequipped to deal with it. Report fraud online and you get... nothing.

The sad part about all this that people are scratching their heads wondering how these fraudsters know so much about them, the banks don't want to know.
I have never been able to work out how these fraudsters are committing these crimes on a daily basis and the banks can't stop them, not only can't they stop them they can't trace where the fraudsters are operating from and how they are getting the money.
Absolutely nonsense, no way on this Earth can you transfer money from ... A.... to... B..... without a paper/cyber trace ..... IMPOSSIBLE ..... it's a insider job, and every single personal information you give on a Government document makes you more vulnerable to fraudsters ^^

The problem is Pat these fraudsters can scan your cards if they are in your wallet or purse. There are ones out there that can block any forms of scanning... So updating your wallet or purse can stop their games....I think the banks have now fitted ATM,s that avoid scanners and it the theives do try to install their scanning devices it becomes obviouse to the banks and the user of the latest ATM's......The biggest email scam now is the one thats states they tried to deliver a parcel and you were not at home. Any courier these days will either pop a notification threw the letter box to say they couldn't deliver it or leave with a neigbour.

I don't believe for one minute that the police/banks/serious crime squad or whoever they call themselves these days can't pin down these criminals ...... not having it ...... not for one minute .... they know exactly who they are, where they are, and how they gather our personal details to fuck us over ....... they hope we will just roll over ..

Farage of course chose to declare Sunak’s actions proof he had no grasp of our culture. He’s right but i think he could have found a better turn of phrase.
Sunak, and particularly his wife, are from a social and financial caste that don’t give a fuck about the bottom 90% of the population below their standing. They simply wouldn’t have any concept of giving a fuck about those who died on that beach or indeed at any other conflict in the war.
But they are hardly alone.
I recall a few years back now the Canadian multimillionaire who had the nursing home he was born in bulldozed to make a carbuncle edifice to golf on the land by junction 24 of the M4 was going all out to get the Ryder Cup
Instead of standing uncomfortably on those beaches in tribute to those who died giving him the ability to pontificate from his podium in welsh instead of being forced to learn German, the Welsh First Minister of the day sent an underling to shiver on the beach while he sat in a warm hotel suite nibbling nibbles and discussing how much public money he could waste.
But at least he didn’t go play any golf on D Day
The Scottish Labour chap did that, at St Andrews.

He didn't ask if insulting the English worried you, which it obviously doesn't. He asked why was it omitted when it's supposed to be objective? It's a valid question. If you believe the English shouldn't be recognised then just say so. Changing it seems more in line with tickling tums of the easily offended as there is no good reason I can think of, can you?
That was asked by SP — I admit I didn't really understand the question, so responded as I did. If you infer from that I "believe the English shouldn't be recognized", that's your problem.
As far as I'm concerned, Scottish questionnaires probably ask for the data they need, which may well be different from that required by British, English, UK, Northern Irish, or Welsh bodies.
I don't see there's any insult, either inadvertent or intended...
Well one wonders why teh recommended English question does not have other British instead of Scottish, Welsh etc. There is an imbalance in the 'harmony' that is supposed to be being sought. Why would English not appear on the Scottish form and indeed why would Welsh not appear. The simplicity of the English form is one line that could apply to all countries and there is no good reason why it should not as it is not only definitive but clear.

My assumption is it hasn’t occurred to them that by making it available to others, the composition of their questions might upset other sensitive souls…

It is a strange way to bring harmony and understanding and collate information on the ethnicity of one's citizens. It relegates other British to also rans and of little importance in how to run Scotland. A very strange outlook.
