I remember when my Lithuanian colleague a few years ago . He said that there were ethnic Poles in Lithuania, Ethnic Russians and ethnic Lithuanians. If only he knew that there were no ethnic groups in Lithuania because some of them had shagged Russians and Poles 🙄

White people in South Africa are considered foreigners in South Africa 30 years after the end of Apartheid. How would our lefties react if our leaders wanted to take farms and businesses from black people who had lived here for many generations. Lefties love to interfere in affairs somewhere else in the world . Why aren’t they making banners and protesting against prejudice in SA ? I think we all know why.. In Zimbabwe they were given a choice, either hand the farm over and leave the country or you and your family will be killed. That's if you were lucky enough to get a warning.

The song is controversial in post-apartheid South Africa[10] where it has experienced a revival[27] being most notably sung by then African National Congress Youth League (ANCLY) leader, later leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema[33] and then South African President Jacob Zuma.[34] The song, along with the slogan "One settler, one bullet", is often associated with the phenomenon of farm attacks in South Africa.[23]: 14 At the EFF's 10th anniversary rally in 2023, Malema (now as leader of the EFF) again sang the song to an estimated 90,000 supporters[35] at the FNB Stadium.[36] The incident received international coverage with Elon Musk criticizing Malema on Twitter for singing the song, accusing him of "openly pushing for the genocide of white people in South Africa".[36][37] Malema subsequently replied on Twitter stating "O bolela masepa ("You are talking shit").[37] Following the EFF's 2023 rally Afriforum stated that the song was, according to testimony from Amanda Platt, sung by the perpetrators during a violent farm attack on Tim and Amanda Platt in KwaZulu-Natal; citing the incident as evidence of the song's literal and violent intent.[ en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubul'_ibhunu Where are all the concerned lefties ?

Also, Yousef was born in Scotland. He's the son of Pakistani Punjabi Muslim immigrants, I think we can safely say without fear of contradiction Yousef is of foreign decent. The Right Honourable Humza Yousaf, MSP, is probably decent, and I doubt his descent is likely to alter that.
It's interesting to note that Scotland's government and local authority questionnaires on ethnicity appear to accept that ethnicity does not define nationality:...
What is your ethnic group? (Choose one option that best describes your ethnic group or background)
Asian, Asian Scottish or Asian British
Pakistani, Pakistani Scottish or Pakistani British Indian, Indian Scottish or Indian British Bangladeshi, Bangladeshi Scottish or Bangladeshi British Chinese, Chinese Scottish or Chinese British Any other Asian, please describe
African
African, African Scottish or African British Any other African, please describe
Caribbean or Black
Caribbean, Caribbean Scottish or Caribbean British Black, Black Scottish or Black British Any other Caribbean or Black, please describe
Other ethnic group
Arab, Arab Scottish or Arab British Any other ethnic group, please describe

If it doesn't matter why do they ask it?
Nearly every UK legal document including passport, driving licence, bank accounts, buying property, registering on the electoral roll, so on and so on ... why is it of any significance where you are from, other than to determine if you are foreign decent.

I guess they ask it because it matters. How and why it matters is a question that really needs to be put to people and organisations that ask for that information — though I can't check the documents you cite, I don't remember a direct ethnicity question for getting on the electoral roll.
But Hackney surveys** do include the question — alongside requests to know about the respondent's age, sexuality, religion, etc.
Some groups appear to revel in compiling statistics on various facets of life, others use it for planning whatever they plan, and a few like to use the stats to complain about the different areas of the UK being swamped by foreigners.
But it looks that officially, nationality is generally thought more important than ethnicity. However, personal feelings can be different...

I see in the link that they cannot bring themselves to says English in Scotland, it comes under other British, yet the English version has all the British home ethnic groups. In terms of harmonisation it is very far from it and insulting to the English.

It has White other British — no mention of Northern Irish or Welsh — so I guess it provides the info Scotland currently needs.
Perhaps the site is for harmonising standards, not tickling the tums of the easily offended...

Which of course was my point in that harmonisation would result in the same information being available irrespective of in which country it was asked. We know how many Scots and Welsh live in England, we have a rough idea of how many English and Welsh as a group live in Scotland and it seems in NI Ireland the question is at best vague. The first line in the English version indicating all home nations ethnic groups seems the logical choice for all countries. Changing it seems more in line with tickling tums of the easily offended as there is no good reason I can think of, can you?

Scotland seen it didn't work having a foreigen leader, it's not working in Wales, and it certainly isn't working in England, can't they read the room? Sunak isn't foreign, he was born in Southampton. I lived in Portsmouth and in that area Southampton is worse than foreign.
