You may be right. I accept a Tory win looks most unlikely, I also think a Labour landslide is equally unlikely, and I don't think Reform will do as well as some people think they will. A lot of people talk about voting intentions but when it comes down to it, when it comes to polling day and putting that X on the ballot paper, I think a lot of people will hold their nose and vote Tory. Perhaps not enough to swing it for Sunak, but enough to deny Starmer a landslide, possibly enough to force a hung parliament which would be an absolute disaster for Starmer. As far as I can see, broadly speaking, people don't particularly like Sunak, but they don't trust Starmer. I tend to agree with most of that. There is no great love of, or trust in, Starmer out there. If Labour wins a majority - and that does seem most likely right now - it will largely be on the basis of them being the Not The Tories Party. If Labour wins on such a basis, support for the incoming Labour government will rapidly dissipate unless Labour is seen to deliver something better for most people who voted for them, and to be seen to be doing so quite early on. That's exactly what happened with Blair and Brown.

us? there's no `us` mate. `us ` Scots aren't cheering you on either , we are one of your adversaries. If `us` Scots do our usual , then my second team will of course be the auld allies France. I think it's gonna take more than your country being successful in the euros to save Rishi sunak. What a plank of wood that man is. By us I mean England, my team. I also often refer to my club side Watford as "us", so do other football fans. Chill out. im very chilled. Simply trying to clarify what you meant and pointing out dont do a sunak.

Any hopes that the Conservative Party might actually represent and pursue conservative policies were shattered today when we learn that Ricky has stopped Lord Frost from standing as a prospective candidate. As he has demonstrated a quiet and sensible approach to our national problems this is rather a blow. I hope he joins Reform and wins a seat from a Conservative. I have never seen such a dismal shower as Starmer and Sunak standing before us. I am bitterly disappointed in Farage, having led his men to the top of the hill he now wants to be a yank, he might find it rather difficult to make a come back as many of the Reform supporters may see his lack of commitment as bottling it.
It is obvious that Starmer has no idea about anything and we will watch him helplessly allowing the hard left to destroy what remains of the country, can you imagine a front bench of Starmer, Raynor, Lammy, Reeves and Thornbury with Blair and Mandelson in the background pulling strings.

I find the timing on this snap election strange.
Suspect Sunak is thinking while inflation is now falling, now out of winter with high energy bills and before the bulk of the illegals start coming this is a good time.
Also with a quick election less time to campaign and so less expenditure.
With Corbyn as an independent and the Muslim vote it won't be plain sailing.
Let's hope Sunak hammers home the difference of green policies as that could impact votes.

Jeez it's hard to keep up with all the gaffes: "Rishi Sunak is asked if he is the "captain of a sinking ship" going into the election after visiting the place where the Titanic was built in Northern Ireland" x.com/PolitlcsUK/status/1794005794716852690?t=Qwtic5Xu31i6lgawVHbbIg&s=19This feels like the political equivalent of Brewsters Millions. Who on earth is advising him and how are they still in a job?

There seems to be some confusion over Lord Frost. In spite of reports yesterday and indeed today that said Lord Frost had been blocked from standing as a Tory candidate, this morning Sunak quite unequivocally told a GB News reporter that Lord Frost had not been blocked from standing. No doubt more to follow.

I'm surprised that you fell for Farage's fake patriotism in the first place tbh. This is the man for whom Brexit meant German passports for his family. 🙄

I haven't fallen for anything. I supported Brexit for my own reasons and find that Reform do have some good ideas and may fill a void in coming years. To be fair to Fargae he never said that he intended to stand as a candidate, it was just assumed by everyone that he would.
