I agree , issuing a green paper now to tighten up on benefit spongers is a waste of time. It's far too late . If it had been done years ago , by now benefit spongers would have been issued with restricted vouchers and those with so called ''anxiety'' on seeing a gas bill or being told they aren't owed a living, told to pull their socks up and get a job. But as we have seen - the Tories say one thing and do another. Taxpayers are shelling out £292million in disability payments to people claiming ADHD, while back in 2013 , when the scheme started , it was only costing £700K, a staggering rise of 41,000%. The payments are part of £5.1billion of public money given out last year in Personal Independence Payments (PIP) for mental health issues, compared with £34.4million in 2013. The great attraction of PIP is that it’s not means tested so claimants receive payouts regardless of income, savings or assets. Don't disagree at all - it's scandalous And 'helpful' sponger friendly websites like ''benefits and work'' highlights the non means tested figures receivable plus the possiblility of a ''free'' car ( and points out that other handouts are also raised and/or unlocked on a claim ). You can see why some parents want life labels for their kids as its a free money tree PIP rates
The rates of PIP from April 2024 are:
Daily Living component
Standard rate: £72.65
Enhanced rate: £108.55
Mobility component
Standard rate: £28.70
Enhanced rate: £75.75
So, an award of the enhanced rate of PIP for both components means an extra £184.30 a week.
PIP is paid on top of almost every other benefit and may lead to an increase in some benefits or entitlement to additional benefits.
The enhanced rate of the mobility component also gives access to the Motability scheme. www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independence-payment-pip/pip-health-conditions/claim-pip-for-adhd

So if you can't bathe yourself and can't walk you get £184 per week, but you think that's too much? 🤔

Of course the problem is that the DWP, like all the Government Departments, used to be populated by Civil Servants who recognised they were responsible for taxpayers money and acted accordingly.
Now those departments are staffed by political activists whose primary aim is to hand out as much money as possible - hence the explosion in handouts.

Fresh strikes by train drivers to cause more disruption for rail passengers...... Rail services on some of the busiest commuter routes in the country will be at a standstill on Tuesday because of a fresh strike by drivers in a near two-year long pay dispute. Members of Aslef at operators including those running services into London such as Southern, Southeastern and South Western Railway will walk out for the day.

I think that people are 14 years past the idea that the economic woes of the country are because of poor people. They swallowed that idea previously, but no more. Got to have a better idea than that. Just laughing thinking if Labour win the GE and fuck up big time, how many years will they blame the Tories for their mess by the end of their term people will be on bended knees wishing for a Tory party. Last time they were still blaming the Tories after three terms in office.
Indeed, some of them are still blaming Thatcher!

Yep. I'm on a course today and... No trains.
Had to motorcycle instead.
"Use public transport" they say. "It's greener" they say.
"What public transport?" we say.

Nice try (yet again ) at goalpost shifting from my question (what are the extra costs incurred by someone claiming mental heath disability handouts who is supposedly too anxious to leave their house) which you are ignoring because you cant answer it

Indeed, some of them are still blaming Thatcher! On this forum I've read at least 4/5 very recent posts from C2 blaming the late Mrs Thatcher (one in extremely uncomplimentary language!)

I wasn't offering an opinion, I was stating facts. All I clarified was how PIP is calculated.
How you deduced that this is "left wing" or that I'm "defending" people on benefits, that's purely in your head.
My only opinion that I offered earlier was that £184 isn't a lot to live on. I don't.
