Why does anyone believe that Peter Hitchens views or opinions are either more relevant, or more important than anyone elses opinions. ? Peter Hitchens has changed his political affiliations and opinions more time than I have changed my socks. He's now a person of the populist Right, opposes equal rights for gay men and women, opposed the measures to stop the spread of Covid, including opposing lockdowns. He's an arrogant person full of his own self importance. Nope.He was a Trotskyist and then moved to the right . Popularist = opinions lefties don’t like . Top tip. You need to change your socks more often.

If labour win we can expect a shock to our society not seen since the 1970s, there will be wholesale uncosted nationalisation being carried out by incompetents and dictated by the marxist trade unions, the complete takeover of schools and universities by woke regulations and George Orwell style brainwashing, a weird kind of deviant gender rules that will incite rage among ordinary people, a debt crisis that makes our current debt look minor, the complete eradication of all private enterprise and self sufficiency, working and employment laws which will result in at least ten million people being rendered unemployed, a suffocation of petty rules in the name of net zero, blackouts, national strikes, homelessness, starvation, the total breakdown of the NHS and a total ban of private health care. Fuck knows what the second week will be like. You want us to believe that Starmer is the Wolf, and the Sheep are people who think Starmer won't dip his hands in their pockets? It could also be seen as the Wolf being Capitalists, and the Sheep as people who think Capitalism won't continue raping their quality of life, and the planet, all for more profit. All The Best

All The Best That's the thing with capitalism. You know exactly who is going to shaft you and usually where it’ll be . You can’t say that with lefties and/ or the particular brand of collectivism their cult follows .

The likely hits will be on pensions, CGT, and fuel tax.
Labour will look to move closer to the EU they have mentioned smashing boat gangs (pipe dream for me) yet look to changes towards freedom of movement if only for certain sectors.

BOTH political parties have their Hidden Agenda's
But to improve the public finances and improve public services, tax cuts is totally irresponsible and not even remotely a good idea, but the Tories are telling us that they will cut taxes.
I think that the average person will look at the NHS and public services, and they will realise they need to be fixed, and promising to cut taxes just doesnt ring true ... Its Tory ideology.
I still believe that Labour will means test some universal benefits, such as The Winter Fuel Allowance, and I think that they will introduce other taxes ( indirect taxes ), such as second home council tax surcharges, which a handfull of councils have allready implemented.

Means-testing is horrendously expensive. Likely expensive enough to make any net saving (if there is one) negligible. All The Best

Blair brought in the Supreme Court and Starmer is expected to go after the Lords again.
Fears for veterans again because of the injustice of the Good Friday agreement which Starmer's govt might reopen.

Waste of money if true, we pay council tax on property / land ownership, it's irrelevant whether you have gardens or not though for rain water capture better to have gardens.
