I find it quite interesting that though society is today worse off than 5 years ago, the government in turmoil, and our public services in a terrible state, people seem to have crystal balls and can see that it will either be worse under a different government, or no better. How do people come to such conclusions ? It's the combination of stupidity, corruption and dishonesty.

This particular MP is a doctor who works for the NHS, same as my own wife, and I can tell posters categorically that the vast majority of doctors who work in the NHS, and who actually care about patients WILL NOT VOTE CONSERVATIVE. Its really that simple and that straigh forward We are almost in a Mirror Image of the run-up to the 1997 general election, with the Tories very unpopular, the NHS in crisis, public services on their knees, MPs defecting, and the next thing which will happen is one of the major newspapers will switch loyalty from Conservative to Labour ... watch this space. He must have plenty of time on his hands, a practicing doctor and an MP. This is the problem. Too many doctors work part time (In the NHS) and too many MP's have 'other' jobs. My view is opposite — too many MPs don't have experience of proper jobs and the real world. Too often they enter parliament too young, or straight from being local councillors, or political researchers, or MPs' assistants, etc.
If MPs manage to keep in contact with a career outside parliament, good luck to them. But if they spend too much time away from their parliamentary duties, only turning up to be lobby fodder, their local party organisations can/should take action...

Through experience, recalling the 1970s and the EMF, recalling illegal wars, devolution, wrecked education, immigration and EU membership. It isn't guesswork.

So you need to firstly refer to events over 50 years ago, another era, totally different circumstances, the era of Jim Callaghan and recovering from the oil and energy crisis. Devolution was put to "The People" to decide, they decided they wanted devolution EU membership - Edward Heath Further European integration and Free Movement of people - John Major I can remember 1997 - 2007, 10 whole years of economic stability, 10 years of growth, low inflation, much improved public services, rising living standards, low borrowing and hugely improved NHS waiting lists and waiting times.

OK, let's look at current situations, Scotland is run by socialists, Wales is run by socialists, London is run by socialists, big labour councils have become bankrupt though inefficiency, incompetence and wasting money on woke crap.
That is what is to come in England under a Starmer/Raynor/Lammy/Thornbury administration.

The MP is going to be NHS adviser to the Labour party when he quits being an MP at the next election . I don't think this has got a lot to do with party politics but more the guy making sure he had a job after the next election that doesn't involve working at the coal face .
Too many of these aholes thieving a living at the public's expense

So can I - do you think that Gordon Browns raid on pension dividends was a success? - what about the revised GP contract - or the the new Dental charges - or the NHS PFI program - or the reduction in social house building - or the introduction of mass immigration? Keen to hear some realism rather than propaganda.

Health budget over time (Billions, inflation adjusted): £131.8 - 2010 (Dr Poulter stands as a Tory) £139.2 - 2015 (stands as a Tory) £144.1 - 2017 (stands as a Tory) £150.3 - 2019 (stands as a Tory) £182.2 - 2024 (defects, suddenly says Tories are no longer focused on funding the NHS) IIRC there was a cut of some 50 £billion in NHS funding during the first half of the last decade, followed by the governments boasts that they were pouring some 30 £billion funding into the NHS during more recent years, which left a 20 £billion hole in funding. Then there was the con of taking £billions from the NHS building maintenance pot and sliding it into running the health side of the NHS. It seems to me that the lying deceiving Tories are remaining true to their natural dishonesty.

Keen to hear some realism rather than propaganda. Given the circumstances of the time Brown was absolutely right to tax unearned income. Meanwhile things were so good the bosses were taking breaks in paying into the pension funds and paying the cash out to shareholders instead. Add to that the increasing tendency to take early retirement and the realisation that the pension pay outs by firms were increasingly impossible to be met, and we can see where the real problems lay. Because of the very nasty insinuations you post, some political honesty from you would be welcomed.

Outright Tory lies (not just insinuated lies) are back in fashion.
Chris Philp (Tory Policing Minister) said on Kuenssberg, Sunday morning TV. "after the last Labour government bankrupt the country". He is presumably not a stupid man, he is therefore outright LIAR.
Because Thatcher destroyed so many small industries and businesses, New Labour were left to rely on Financial Services while mending the State Educational system and encouraging small business start ups and so on. Because of the reliance on Financial Services, which appeared to be very healthy in the early years, the International Financial Meltdown did excessive damage to the UK economy, not the NL Government.
