So you'd be ok with someone in overtly Muslim attire walking through a Jewish parade, while obviously not being a part of said parade? For the record, I believe he should have been allowed to walk where he wanted, I am just wondering if you'd feel the same if the roles were reversed. All The Best According to most on here the parade is not overtly anything it is specifically pro Palestine and contains many Jews so Jews are not the focus of the demonstration it is Israel's government that are the problem. I can recall teh reporting of EDL marches where Muslims in full attire lined the streets and demonstrated. That was called counter demonstration which is not allowed for this man apparently. I thought there had been new guidance, in part because of what happened at some of the EDL marches, that "counter-demonstrations" need to be reasonably separated from "demonstrations" precisely to de-escalate any chance of violence. Tax payers have never been asked to pay when these have been erected in other areas. Plan for one of UK's biggest Jewish 'eruv' zones that will ring Golders Green in North London with fishing wire to avoid Sabbath restrictions sparks fears of religious division Fishing wire would be suspended from 5.5m high poles to create a boundary Eruv would act as extension of home's walls giving Jewish community more freedom Hundreds of people rallied together to support the plan www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13330939/Jewish-eruv-Golders-Green-Sabbath-religions-division-fears.htmlMaybe, here's a thought, if Orthodox Jews want to stop treating their disabled and elderly as pariahs during Shabbat they should do the common sense thing and stop CHOOSING to following outdated and ridiculous religious rules. They threatened to arrest the man for his own safety and because he was intent on looking for trouble, inviting confrontation that he could easily have chosen to avoid, and the police did not have the manpower to cope with the riot that would have ensued. Ripley, we appear to moving in circles. If the KKK were marching in London should the police tell a black person to disappear or face arrest? With the Met appearing to have not moved on from their attitudes disclosed during the inquiries into the Jean Charles de Menezes and Stephen Lawrence cases — as the Oladeji Omishore and Chris Kaba killings tend to show — does London need (or would it notice) if the KKK were here...?

They are human beings and sometimes like all humans fallible, those that are criminally motivated should be dealt with accordingly. If they all resigned en masse you would see if the Met are needed.

Listen to the tape you posted and you will hear him say that the bag in which he was carrying his prayer shawl was adorned with stars of David. He was actively looking for trouble. He didn't just want to cross the street. He wanted to cross through a protest march, and when his attempt to do so failed, he went home to stir up support for trying it again. Now, unless he was a pro-Palestinian Jew, why would he have wanted to cross a protest march? A pro-Palestinian march is not antisemitic. They are protesting Netanyahu's regime, not the Israeli people. So why would it be dangerous for a Jew to cross the road? - the guy in question is English and has as much to do with Netanyahu's regime as you do. The only reason that a Jew crossing the road would trigger people to violence is if they were antisemitic. It isn't dangerous for a Jew to cross the road. But this isn't about crossing the road. It's about crossing through a protest march which he opposes, and that provocation could be dangerous not only to him but to others as well.

Blimey, at least have the balls to admit it was an anti-Jew march instead of wriggling and bullshitting.

How would anyone on the march know he opposes that march, he is not remonstrating, he is not carrying any declarations of support for Israel. I am not slating the police for acting as they did it is the fact they have to act that way to keep the peace.

It's worked in Northern Ireland, where the discredited and mistrusted RUC was reformed and replaced the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). Is enough now enough, and should policing in the capital be reformed, and the Met Police SERVICE be reconstituted to reflect its title?
Darling of the Right, former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, has called for the resignation of the head of the Metropolitan Police Sir Mark Rowley. Is that enough...?

He calls for them to be curtailed or banned outright. Nevertheless, I take your point that his political beliefs may not have been transparent at the time in question. However, I think it's not unlikely some march participants would make an assumption about a man wearing a kippah and carrying a bag emblazoned with stars of David. I question why he would want to cross such a protest march and then set up an other opportunity to do it again. Clearly his objective went farther than just crossing a road.

In order for any agency to work effectively it has to have clear leadership and back up from that leadership to enable them to do their job. Too often those at the sharp end find that support for their actions is lacking and direction as to what those actions should be non-existent. Too much taking on board MacPherson, which was conclusions based on thin air, and not enough dealing with crime no matter from whence it arises.

Then why are the left not defending the right of people not to be tarred with the same brush in this instance because of their belief. If one went about blaming any stray Muslim for terrorism the left would be over it like a rash as unfair, unwarranted and racist. This is a fine demonstration of hypocrisy in action.

They took on board Mcpherson, despite his lack of evidence for his findings, and implemented his recommendations. It has led to the treatment of individuals differently dependant on their race or religion etc, a rather sad state of affairs. We had years of disruption from various communities demanding equality under the law. Now the upholders of the law have to consider identity at all times and equality of treatment is still a problem except of course it has changed direction by official demand.
