I think this WC is exposing the corruption of FIFA at the same time as it is demonstrating what a shitty dictatorship Qatar is. I'm hoping it will help bring down the FIFA regime and makes Qatar feel like they've wasted their money. They wanted to sportswash their human rights crimes and attract tourists. It's not going their way though. I'm half hoping that fans get arrested and deported for a bit of drunken celebrations when England lift the trophy and that's the final nail in both of their coffins. I am a glass half full type of guy though. The only thing that's really pissing me off is all the diving.Typical World Cup shit then, that's another reason not to watch. Too much diving in top level football. I'd rather watch a pub team, at least grassroots clubs have heart. |

In footballing terms you live in our shadow and the only way you get to enjoy a WC is by supporting any team that plays England - we live rent free in your head. The Englishmen, as in all brain washed little Englanders Britnats seems to think that everybody in the UK is going to support England. Who they think are the UK. In terms of football Scotland are shite. The record speaks for itself. Most of the time I watch English football. I notice the only Englishman on the field, is the referee, in the top half dozen clubs, Even the manager's are foreign. Below that in England as in Scotland they are second rate shite. The rest below the top four in Scotland are the same. . But it is the shite I support. And you let me worry about who I support. You worry about who you support. I am watching Wales at the moment and rooting for them. You have already made it clear it is below your sooper dooper English pedigree, woof woof to support them. To you they are irrelevant. In an o/p starting a thread about the latest world cup , and englishman brings up yet again scotland. This gets to the nub and heart of the matter. The French and germans etc measure success on how many trophies they have won , england measures themselves against the mighty scotland.
When we seem to be the contual barometer england measures its success against , i hardly think we are irrelvant. 
England are a good team as jaydee says , and so they should be with allegedly the best league in the world.
However we all know what makes is the best football league is foreign players money and management.
As jaydee hints , the England team is the biggest underperforming football team in the entire world , in terms of the best footballing nations , you have won the least trophies.
Getting back to the o/p , i dont agree with vinnys premise. We have known about the corruption of fifa all my life ,and that qatar was due to host this world cup for over a decade. Virtue signalling about Qatar now is pretty pointless.
The time to do something was long before now.
For the record , im supporting France.
The Englishman only brought up Scotland because of the Scottish nationalist's ABE comment. The first post in the thread was an englishman virtue signalling about the world cup and bringing scotland into his moans. The ABE comment was made a day later by moray. which begs the question why keep mentioning us and bringing us into your wee moans about world football? As i said , the big international teams like Brazil or Germany do their talking on the pitch. They arent concerned what scotland or anyone else does.
The englishman however , is constantly looking over his shoulder desperate to be seen to be doing better than a country that he tells us is worse than costa rica.
In footballing terms , we scots live in the shadow of the great international teams who actually go out and win trophies.
Most of us coudnt give a flying feck about England. Those of us who support football enjoy watching the tournaments and seeing the great players involved. Then some paranoid englishman comes up and crys about us not supporting the minnows of north west europe , and it all kicks off.
No one cares mate. No one is interested in your country.

Ah well Wales looks like they are out. Kudos to them for qualifying. I wonder if the racist prats and Enoch Braverman UKIP/EDL/BNP Farage /Johnston apologist will attack the black Englishmen at some point up and coming. Again. So far I have enjoyed the footie. Even managed to listen to commentary on the last England game. I am watching that now. The game kicks of in around 30 minutes. I suspect as in back to normal . I will have to switch of the commentary. Or throw up. If anyone has contact with Jordan Pickford, a cracking goalie. FFS could they ask him to smile. Having solidarity with the workers who died in the construction of stadia, is virtue signalling ?

What you are supposed to do is support your own home nation, if they are not still in it you support the other home nations, if they are all out you support a Commonwealth country and after that you support anyone but Argentina.
That's what I do anyway.
