You are of course correct, but that will not appease the "need to be more right wing" mob on this forum who are convinced that the current government are not sufficiently extreme enough and that is the reason for their failure. π and how is being more left-wing than New Labour currently working out for them? The left wing party that just cut taxes so that we need to have future public spending cuts? π€

There isn't any talent. You want to hear a joke. It goes Rishi was the only talented one. It's true in a relative sense. Rishi is quite a dab hand with the numbers, but that is not saying a lot. You also have to factor in the screwed up nature of the wider party itself in voting for Truss. Wherever you look with that lot there is faulty goods, and it may well implode entirely. Like you say, who would want to lead that lot and the answer is someone dumb. After that ask the same again and the reply is someone even dumber. It could just spiral downwards into ever-increasing chaos. You are of course correct, but that will not appease the "need to be more right wing" mob on this forum who are convinced that the current government are not sufficiently extreme enough and that is the reason for their failure. π It is the reason for their failure. As I said elsewhere, the Tories are trying to be New Labour.
And we don't need two New Labours (we don't even need one).
So the dyed-in-the-wool Labourites will never vote Tory and now neither will the traditional Tory voters.
So who do the Tories now appeal to? Basically, no one.

So how is this tax and spend policy currently working out for them?

The Tories are in a bind, and know they currently face near obliteration at the ever nearing General Election. As has correctly been pointed out, they are effectively New Labour but with blue rosettes. The Tory MP's mainly all agree with Rishi, and happily engineered his elevation to the leadership, but they also know that Rishi being a Social democratic nonentity, indistinguishable from the Liberals or Starmer's Labour, means that only a dribble of former Tories will go along to a Polling Station to vote for yet more of the same. Hence the need to be perceived as a more right wing, or actually 'Conservative' in time for the Election if they're to have any hope of avoiding total wipe out. But if they install who they might want, such as Bad Penny, and yet again sideline and silence their Party members this close to an election, then the membership and the volunteers that will be relied upon to help and organise all the local campaigns, will be cheesed off and uncooperative, given that yet another cardboard cut-out woke globalist has been foisted upon them. Yet the alternative is to let the membership have a vote .... and a vote for them is a pointless token gesture unless they're given the option of a 'proper' Tory to vote for. And if they DO get given a Suella, Kemi, Jacob type option ... the membership will swiftly identify Bad Penny as the bad option ...and vote accordingly. Damned if they do, and damned if they don't ... I reckon they'll just have to resign themselves to going down with Rishi's fast sinking ship Social Media isn't fooled by Bad Penny ....however you dress her up.

An exemplary example of an outraged lefty. It seems Andrew thinks anyone who is right wing is a 'mob' and incredibly this government is extreme. This government extreme lol. I would suggest Andrew that you need to wake the fuck up. Perhaps the fact that you're a pampered lefty who has never seen anything of life is blurring your vision. It's a common complaint with outraged lefties who have never been anywhere, never done anything, never seen anything. I pity simpering left wing weak examples of humanity who have no sense of pride, did they all have their testicles removed at birth? A rhetorical question of course. I'm not a lefty. π I don't think it matters whether you are, or are not, or what others perceived rightly or wrongly from your posts The fact is with Britain facing the worst fuel bills in proportion to income since the days those thrown off their smallholdings by the enclosure acts shivered in dark satanic mills and unheated cottages, Sunak joked and Hunt smiled and said fuck all while millions panicked I said ages ago Boris lost the right to be Prime Minister the day Cummings held a Press Conference to say he was above the law and would not resign and then Bojo dropped everything to hold one to agree nothing should be done. This against a background where two very public announcements, and three other very quiet amicable arrangements made without ceremony, saw five publicly paid transgressors get the boot because to continue in their jobs would have made them a serious distraction to the job in hand. Boris should have gone in front of those cameras and stated categorically that with the greatest of regret and with full recognition for his work blah blah his paid special advisor was in fact nothing more than a paid special advisor and he has sadly forgotten that fact and it is now my duty to remind him of this by handing him this form P45 Had he done THAT the shockwaves would have blown the party gate bullshitters out of the water and neither Truss not Shithead Sunak would be where they are now By the same token Sunak's decision to leave the non millionaires in fear of the gas bill over Christmas signed his death warrant
