At least 350 women have been killed by a man since the murder of Sarah Everard – the equivalent of one woman dying every three days, The Independent can reveal.
Frustrated experts said the government is still failing to protect women as the sobering new figures came to light on the third anniversary of Ms Everard’s kidnap and murder by a serving police officer.
Since 2016-2017, the number of rapes reported has increased by 67% from 42,059 up to 70,330. In 2021-2022,
during 2021-2022, of the 70,330 rapes reported to police only 1,378 led to a conviction. This is a conviction rate of less than 2%.

where most cases of the crime have no physical evidence and are just 'he says, she says' I would have thought it extremely difficult to meet the threshold of 'beyond reasonable doubt' to gain a conviction.
what is your solution ttl?

Never a truer word said well done Jessie Suella Braverman is more interested in locking up refugees than rapists, Jess Phillips has claimed. The shadow minister for domestic violence and safeguarding accused the home secretary of being “missing in action” on the issue of violence against women and girls.

What refugees would that be then lefty old bean? Just reading your last two posts you have managed to contradict yourself. And talking of missing in action where is the mayor of Londonistan as the crime rate has more than quadrupled under his infestation of the mayors office?

Well seeing that's been the case since the justice system began it beggars believe that under this Government has the lowest Conviction rates for Rapes Recorded.

Here is one of the really big problems ... In 2010 the Prime Minister David Cameron started cutting police numbers, this went on through Theresa May's term, and a total of 20,00 officers were cut from the ranks in just England and Wales. Along came Boris Johnson and he decides "This Was Wrong", and so he then embarks upon recruiting the 20,000 officers that the other two Tory Prime Ministers got rid of. To a large degree this has not repaired the damage done, because MOST of the 20,000 who were cut, were long serving, experienced officers. In their place has come young, inexperienced and it seems in many instances, not very professional officers. To make matters worse, other key areas which affect crime directly have all suffered from cuts, funding decreases and demoralized staff, in particular Mental Health Services, which today are in an appaling state. www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9-0WGo9Zrk

Yes, you already said that. so what is your solution for increasing the conviction rate?

I think we can both agree, I think most of the country would agree that for the past couple of decades the government has spectacularly failed the British people and this once great country.

I quite agree. But would also suggest that over the past couple of decades the British people have behaved spectacularly badly at the ballot box ...and I'm still not sure they've learned from their perpetual mistakes.

Red Rackham I quite agree. But would also suggest that over the past couple of decades the British people have behaved spectacularly badly at the ballot box ...and I'm still not sure they've learned from their perpetual mistakes. I think you're being a tad harsh, after all the electorate can only vote for whoever is on the ballot paper and in my opinion the last intake from 2019, on both sides of the house, left a lot to be desired. I will add, I think a strong turnout for Reform UK would be good for the country. Obviously I don't expect Reform to win, but a good turnout for Reform UK will I think, behind closed doors, focus Labour and Tory minds, as UKIP did a decade ago.
