Very interesting. Prog Matt Goodwin called the result about a week ago - he said Galloway would win because the politics had been split along religious sectarian grounds. Dead right.
But there's also the question of whether the election was legal. Already we're hearing that the campaigners for the muslim vote had been going around getting people to swear on the Koran that they'd vote for their candidate - which is illegal. Many of the candidates that the mulsims dislike (i.e. anyone who doesn't have the "correct" view on the Gaza war) have been threatened with having their homes burned down etc etc. There are reports of "ballot stuffing" just as there were with Lutfur RAhman (which were proved and Rahman was thrown out). There are reports of many voters living at the same one-bed flat - just as with the Tower Hamlets election a few years ago). The usual ways that muslims pervert the democratic vote.
And the reports say that the postal vote in Rochdale had gone up massively on previous years - 27,000 postal votes. This is always highly suspicious because the postal vote is the easiest to fiddle.
I'd say that this election should be investigated by the Electoral Commission. Obviously no one cares about the result, but the principle of our democracy is at stake here. If there has been fraud (which there almost certainly has) then a warning shot needs to be fired across the muslims' bows. AND the postal vote needs to be totally reformed to make it more secure. It's too easy to perpetrate fraud.

Labour were quite happy to play down electoral fraud when they were benefiting from it.

One interesting observation is that of the 78,000 electorate, about 23,000 are Muslim, meaning around 55,000 are not.
What does this say for "Reform UK" who came a miserable 6th ?
Meanwhile Richard Tice is playing the "Trump Card" ( we was robbed, the election was unfair ), yet nowhere can I find any allegations of voter fraud, not by the local returning officer, not in the local newspapers, nowhere.

Reform had two big opportunities in a by election. Wellingborough and here. They wheeled out two of their bigger candidates but won nothing. Having said that Richard Tice said his aim was to destroy the Tories. He may well assist in that.
