Its been the same for many, many years, the bottom line is that the Tories ALWAYS look after their own class of people, the money grabbers, the rich, people who want to make money at any cost. It has been revealed today that the so called "Renters Reform Bill" which was to give tennants more security and fairer rules to protect tennants, is been opposed by a large group of Tories, mostly ones who (guess) Own Property, which they rent out. Rishi Sunak, the lame duck Prime Minister, who is so scared of his own party, has now delayed the Bill from passing through the House Of Commons, and seems to be allowing backbenchers to ammend ( water down ) the Bill to suit their own needs. Same with Employment Law The Tories have done nothing for ordinary people, all they do is take, take, take www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9-0WGo9Zrk

Angela Rayner, the deputy Labour leader and shadow housing secretary, said:
This is yet another betrayal of renters by the Conservatives, and yet another example of Rishi Sunak’s weakness which means he always puts party before country.
Having broken the justice system, the Tories are now using their own failure to break their promises to renters in the most underhand way. The government must give a statement to Parliament today.
Fourteen years of Tory failure have failed renters. Labour will ban no fault evictions, no ifs no buts.
Campaigners have also denounced the move.

There has been more done over the last couple of years to protect renting tenants and landlords than has ever been done before fiddles....Maybe you should do a bit of research first fiddles rather go off half cocked in your rants against all things tory..

...Labour will ban no fault evictions, no ifs no buts... So there'll be less rental property available then. Just what's needed in a housing crisis. Stupid, stupid Labour.🙄

I have been on both sides, I have rented a flat as a home in my younger days, and I have been a landlord too.
There are already in place, plenty of protections for both The Tennant and the Landlord, but there are still loopholes and ways that landlords can evict tennants for no good reason, there are still landlords who rent out properties which are unfit for human habitation, and there are landlords who charge ridiculous rents, or who put up rents to unsustainable levels, forcing people out.
This Bill was to be designed to give tennants FURTHER and BETTER protections, but it has been handed over to a bunch of Tory MPs who simply dont want better protections for tennants.

And yet landlords are leaving the sector in droves because it's no longer worth the aggravation.
Punishing them further will only make that worse.
Of course lefties don't understand that. They only think that anyone who is perceived to have more than them should be punished.

Those who are facing an inviction order now do not HAVE TO GO TO COURT any longer and the courts have been replaced by the ombudsman...

Exactly mate a great many landlords now just put their properties into the hands of letting agents or just flog their properties because of the hassle it involves....This is just another childish attempt by fiddles to attack all things tory..

Tom Darling, campaign manager for the Renters’ Reform Coalition, said:
It is scandalous and farcical that the government are now outsourcing the writing of the renters (reform) bill to their landlord backbenchers. It reeks of desperation.
They don’t know want to be seen to have reneged on their promise to deliver a better deal for renters, but with the ban on section 21 even further into the long grass, and the suggestion they are looking to ‘lower the burden on landlords’ to provide safe housing, England’s 11 million private renters will struggle to come to any other conclusion.
In reality, the government’s initial proposals are the baseline of the change we need to the private rented sector. To actually fix the crisis in private renting we need a bill with longer tenancies, more time for renters to find a new home when evictions do happen, higher penalties for unscrupulous landlords, and a cap on rent increases to prevent unaffordable rent hikes becoming, in effect, no-fault evictions.
And Ben Twomey, chief executive of Generation Rent, said:
Weakening licensing schemes could compromise the safety of renters. These schemes give councils some of the strongest powers to tackle criminal landlords and sub-standard, dangerous homes ..
We have waited a very long time for this Bill, but it must genuinely offer to improve renters’ lives if it is to be worth the paper it’s written on.
