I think his action should be fully investigated by the House, and if at the end of the day he should not have done what he did he should be sacked, likewise Starmer if he did not comply with the rules as well , and the Investigation should happen very quickly.

Feelings are running at danger level high, I guess Hoyle could see that. Indeed but it was the SNP's day of opposition . Good form would have been to put forward the SNP amendment ,they could then have got on with the voting and moved on to more pressing issues . What was going on within the labour party was their problem . fully agree. Especially when we are now hearing 100 labour mps , and two shadow cabinet members , were going to rebel against starmer . George galloway , for what his comments are worth , has said about starmer... George Galloway @georgegalloway · 11h Not content with wrecking the Labour Party for Israel Keir Starmer has now wrecked the House of Commons and with it the reputation and career of The Speaker

This is what the parliament rules state
At the start of a debate on a motion, it is down to the Speaker to decide if any amendments to it can be debated and voted on.
But parliamentary convention says that if the motion has been put forward by an opposition party, like the SNP, it cannot be amended by another opposition party, like Labour - only by the government.
The SNP proposal was not amended
There could of still voted
There wasn't a vote what's a democratic right because the government pledging to "play no further part" in proceedings
If anything was undemocratic yesterday was the action of the tory
Argue with that .

Its not that he put forward an amendment it was that he put pressure on the speaker to put it to the house . What pressure have you any prove of this If you mean what proof does anyone have of that pressure being applied, scroll back a bit and read the statement made in the public arena on social media without the benefit of parliamentary privilege which a millionaire barrister snd former head of the Crown Prosecution Service should know exactly how to take action against if libellous, and if he has been libelled there then he should take such action, for inaction confirms guilt.

What is the point of 649 MPs if the Speaker gets to decide, says Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg...... This is what happened in the Chamber moments ago. I said: "It's quite clear from the level of noise when the question was put that the view of the deputy speaker was being challenged. "I think it is absolutely extraordinary that that noise level was deemed to be aye. It's inconceivable that anybody hearing it would have thought it was aye. And it is quite clear from all our standing orders, all our traditions that when the speaker or Deputy's decision is challenged, it should go to a division."....

The easy answer to whether he should resign is to look at what the response would have been if the boot had been on the other foot and he had collaborated with the Tories to avoid political embarrassment at the vote for them. I suspect the outcry would have been deafening. What did he do wrong it's he decision on what can be debated on End off.
