I partially agree with you - the LibDems are an irrelevance here. I think that there's some tactical voting going on here, LibDems are an irrelevance, so their votes are going to the Labour. This, and vice versa, has happened in a lot of recent by elections, to ensure that the Tories get a good kicking. Whether people replicate this (and the parties, behind the scenes) in the GE remains to be seen. If you think that these elections are about Asylum Seekers, you're not reading the room. Andrew, politicians want the election to be about anything but immigrants because the Tories have shown themselves to be utterly incompetent and Labour will be worse. They'll talk about jobs, the economy, inflation, net zero, the NHS, anything but immigration. And if you think people aren't talking about immigration then you need to stop listening to the BBC and get out more. I'm not politically correct, some might call me a nosey bugger. If I'm in a pub or restaurant or indeed a shop, I will strike up a conversation with strangers and ask them what their concerns are, how they're voting and what they think of Labour and the Tories. OK this is only a snapshot of my experience, but by far the top two issues most people I speak to are concerned about is the effect net zero will have on them, and the immigrant invasion and this is not an area that has any immigrants, unless you go to Stafford. My brother lives in Wiltshire, there are no immigrants where he lives, but that doesn't mean people are not concerned about it. He says people are just waiting for the first immigrants to show up. Politicians may not be talking about immigration, but I assure you, many people are.

I'm pretty sure they are not allowed to intervene outside their constituency, and pass on any cases to the relevant person. A rule that could be changed in 30 minutes.. If my MP is to be believed (which i wonder about quite a lot) it is a convention that an elected MP has to deal with constituent's concerns and pass them to the relevant other party such as a minister, and that no other MP can receive such. It is also a convention that any such matters pending at the end of an MP's tenure must be binned and you must raise the matter again with the new MP (something i consider beyond belief apart from the fact this is parliament we're talking about). The idiot in this seat receiving twice what others get becaue she does only half a job, having anything devolved jandled by five AM's, sent me a letter just before the 2019 GE telling me this As pacifico says, if they really wanted they could change this "convention" in a very short time indeed

The polls keep suggesting a Labour landslide but, if people are concerned about immigration and Net Zero (and I believe that they are), then voting Labour (a pro-immigration/pro-Net-Zero party) would seem an odd choice.
And, in regard to pretty much everything else, I doubt that most people would see much difference between the establishment parties.
Overall, I'm not sure that the current polls are that reflective of public opinion.

Red, I now you desperately want the electorate to all think the same way you do, but you are deluded if you think that is the case. Immigration is an issue undoubtedly but rating well behind the cost of living and the state of public services - particularly health. There is polling data on this, which is quite interesting in the difference between issues considered important between age groups and by party support. yougov.co.uk/topics/society/trackers/the-most-important-issues-facing-the-country. call me a cynic but I think that might be a little more objective than the Rackham echo chamber. Incidentally I thin there is some truth in your comment that concern about immigration is much lower amongst those who live in areas where there is immigration than in areas where there isn't. The old "its terrible over the hill and they are coming your way" trope remains as powerful as it always was.

There's two by elections coming up next week. One in Wellingborough, the seat of the disgraced ERG MP Peter Bone, who threatened the party to replace the candidate with his partner. Looks like the electorate have seen straight through that. The second is in Kingswood, following the resignation of Chris Skidmore, on his environmental concerns. This constituency won't exist come the GE. My understanding is that the Tories haven't bothered to campaign in either, possible indication of May 2nd as GE? Current Odds (+ Implied Chances) Wellingborough 🌹 LAB 1/14 (83%) ➡️ RFM 9/1 (9%) 🌳 CON 12/1 (7%) 🔶 LDM 100/1 (1%) Kingswood 🌹 LAB 1/16 (85%) 🌳 CON 8/1 (10%) ➡️ RFM 25/1 (4%) 🔶 LDM 100/1 (1%) These by elections may have been more significant if Wellingborough and Kingswood had a history of being solid Tory seats, but they haven't. Both have a history of flip-flopping between Labour and Tory. Given the Tories woeful handling of the immigrant invasion I'm not exactly surprised they're getting a kicking, although I am quite surprised Reform aren't doing better, and I have to ask, what is the point of the LibDems? Red the Flip floping or Swing voters are the most inferential votes in any GE. How these constituency vote are the main factor of who gets into HOC.if these seates have voted the Tories over the last 14yrs dosent that tell you.something. Has for Reform not doing any better. That's because 1.people just ain't bothered about immigration /Asylum seekers when it comes to people priority at GE 2 I've always said people in this Country would not put a Far right/left This has been proven by the Failure of BNP and Corbyn. Reform are nothing but BNP revamped

Many people are concerned about immigration and net zero, but they're also rightly annoyed with the Tories, so who do they vote for? It is indeed going to be interesting. Again I tend to think you're probably correct, I doubt there will be much of a noticeable difference between a Labour government and recent Tory governments, and that's Sunaks biggest problem, the Tories aren't Tories. Some comentators are predicting record low turnouts for the general election, maybe voters will register a protest by voting 'none of the above'.

However the over 65's tend to vote and the 18 - 24's don't.

It is true that concern about immigration peaks amongst the oldest. The oldest tend also to be more right wing. Does seem odd therefore that the Tory government has made it harder for many over 65s to vote - specially those who have given up passports and driving licenses.

So you have never heard of postal votes then dappy? You should have as labour have abused it so many times.
