It is relevant. Politics is (broadly speaking) a dispute with other/s group/s

No. Try again. Why would it be dishonest for a famous singer to express openly their political views?

No. Try again. Why would it be dishonest for a famous singer to express openly their political views? Because it's using your singing fame / popularity to advertise and promote your side in a dispute.

If Taylor Swift has an exceptionally high carbon footprint then why aren’t the net zero zealots calling her out in the first place ?

You haven't explained what is dishonest about doing so

You haven't explained what is dishonest about doing so I did that several posts back when you first quibbled pedantically about this word. My argument doesn't need the word.

You brought up the word dishonest when you backed away from saying singers shouldn't be allowed to express their political views.
You also used immoral.
Use that if you want. Why is it immoral for a singer to express their political views.

Eh? Taylor Swift does not sing about the environment, lol. That's just Newsweeks talking bollocks, most her songs are about relationships with either friends, family or partners. I've listened to probably more of her albums than I should admit to, i can't think she ever makes politics the focus of her music, despite some politicians trying to bully her. Exactly, her work is not aimed at any political movement and certainly not at old fogies like wot I am but even I can see it's a very good body of work. I wonder how John would react if some shit ran a website showing his travels in detail. It is stalking but that said she has been very naïve using a personalised registration that was a big giveaway. But seems she's sold it now so the problem is not that the data is in the public domain, but that HER data is … I’m not sure how anyone could LEGALLY obtain details of my movements. I know where i could get them, and how, but the intrusion would be logged. And i’ve already planned how to travel by private jets hired from other people when i win the euro millions.

So you are saying it’s immoral to express a political opinion unless you are sure no one will listen to you?

Is there no end to what fame and money can buy you? With Beckham it's just Golden Balls and Tatts...

So you are saying it’s immoral to express a political opinion unless you are sure no one will listen to you? No. I'm saying it is immoral to knowingly employ something other than the strength of your position to persuade others that it is correct. It's deceit. Unfortunately, for people like movie stars, singers (celebrities in general), - those who engender a large amount of emotional loyalty and devotion - this means it is immoral to present your political positions. Like i said, it is equivalent to presenting your side in a dispute to your fans. When i see someone doing this as a political tactic, it strikes me they are being immoral. I think most people agree. This is especially true when children and other vulnerable people are involved I make an exception for those whose fame itself was built on overtly political material - political comedians, writers. They paid the piper early on
