www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-68223602You could not make this fucking shit up. So Taylor Swift On the 26th December Newsweek praised her adherence to the cult of Greta saying Newsweek notes, “Swift's lyrics frequently reference nature, and she has been a public advocate for several environmental causes, including global clean water access and protecting endangered wildlife. She also called climate change one of the 'horrific situations' plaguing the world.” She is however top of a league table of users of private jets to travel the world to sing this bullshit A fact not lost on a tech savvy chap who realises her aircraft registry is a matter of public record as is its profile on flightradar So she has her lawyers have the plod bust him for stalking. Only in fucking america….

Virtue signalling 'celebrities' don't like being called out on their hypocrisy do they. I sincerely hope Jack Sweeney continues to embarrass her and other virtue signalling celebrities who's credo seems to be 'do as I say, not as I do'.

Is it not legitimate for anyone including celebrities to campaign for society as a whole to behave in different ways even if their career does not allow them to practice what they preach?
Where are you now in your political journey?
1) Do you deny that the overwhelming scientific consensus is that man made climate change is likely to cause very significant damage to our world if humanity doesnt take action. 2) Do you argue that that is true but the scientists are wrong 3) or do you argue that they are likely right, but fuck it there is nothing we can do so lets party on
I dont frankly want to go round the arguments again, just interested to know which category you broadly fall into.

That's just Newsweeks talking bollocks, most her songs are about relationships with either friends, family or partners. I've listened to probably more of her albums than I should admit to, i can't think she ever makes politics the focus of her music, despite some politicians trying to bully her.

Exactly, her work is not aimed at any political movement and certainly not at old fogies like wot I am but even I can see it's a very good body of work. I wonder how John would react if some shit ran a website showing his travels in detail. It is stalking but that said she has been very naïve using a personalised registration that was a big giveaway. But seems she's sold it now

But seems she's sold it now Taylor Swift has called climate change “horrific,” yet she regularly lends her private jet out to friends. According to an analysis by Yard, Swift’s jet has disgorged 1,200 times the average person’s total annual emissions, making Swift the worst “emission offender” among all celebrity jet-owners - link

Is it not legitimate for anyone including celebrities to campaign for society as a whole to behave in different ways even if their career does not allow them to practice what they preach? It is an interesting question. I would say it is dishonest to use a reputation and fame gained in (say) egg and spoon racing, to further and popularise your notions about brain surgery.

Why would a world champion Egg and Spoon racer not be just as entitled as anyone else to express their opinions about politics and the key issues affecting the world as they see them?
Fans of Egg and Spoon racing and those who have no interest in it whatsoever are of course perfectly free to ignore them

Is it not legitimate for anyone including celebrities to campaign for society as a whole to behave in different ways . . Well can you show that the artist in question has ever so campaigned? Google says not

I am not claiming they are less qualified to speak on these matters, I'm saying that they are equally qualified. However, the reach and influence they have is not proportionate to that equality- and so it is somewhat dishonest. Myself and Ms Swift have about the same credibility politically.

I agree. As far as I know Taylor Swift has never claimed to have more validity for her political views than anyone else.
Does her fame as a singer preclude her from expressing her political views in your view?
