Here's a driveway installation:
Admittedly, it's in California where the weather is probably more dependable and the DIYer is usually better equipped, but give it a couple of years and I bet there'll be battery shops in the UK undertaking battery rebuilds substantially cutting the price over OEM replacements...
That is a hybrid not an EV. youtu.be/FTiFEapky8s

it's not exactly a DIY home repair on the drive - most DIYers do not have a fully equipped workshop with vehicle lift.

Most DIYers couldn't replace a gearbox or engine on their drive. So it seems a bit extreme to leap from your EV is a right off if the battery fails to you need to take it to your local garage with a car lift to get it repaired.

All EU countries have special rules for classic cars 'old timers' twenty or more years old as long as they're not in daily use. Nothing will change in that area. It's in everybody's interest to drive marginal cars (and marginal owners) off the roads. They'll be less crowded, less polluted and less dangerous. What's not to like? Yes yet what about the new generation of classic cars as more join each year as time progresses.

Not the case Every single article i have read states this ‘The Brussels proposal is based on the concept of a residual vehicle, a category for vehicles over 15 years old whose faults affect the engine, gearbox, brakes, steering, chassis or bodywork. Therefore, if this regulation is approved, the repair or replacement of any of these components in a vehicle older than 15 years will be prohibited’

The vague word 'necessary' would be unnecessary if it simply allowed any engine repair / replacement. Unfortunately, everything is like this now.

or it's as I posted before that they are just trying to prevent 'grandfather's axe' making of effectively new cars to circumvent the ICE engine car ban.

Of course it is If people are allowed to save themselves the inconvenience of EVs by 'repairing' the old IC cars, they probably will It highlights how the move to BEV requires the banning of adequately functioning and safe technology, so it can be replaced with something that is relatively functionally limited

Fly tipping is a behavior rather than a technology. In any case, let's try to make your hysterical analogy work.. Imagine if they banned dustbins and forced people to use butterfly nets as a replacement - 'butterfly nets are 'perfectly adequate' they would argue. "I only have one piece of rubbish a week and i think most people are the same - what difference does it make?"
