New projections from the ONS indicate the population of the UK will hit 70 million in just two years time. that is 2026, rather the previous projected date of 2036. The new projection calls for the population to reach 74 million in 2036, an increase of seven million from the last census in 2021.
This dramatic change is entirely to the increase in net migration which the ONS believes will reach 315,000 over the period in question rather than the previous estimate of 245,000 annually.
Needless to say - although the ONS doesn't actually come out and say it - the population increase will be entirely due to immigration and differential birthrates between the native (white British) population and the population of 'migration background'.
Unlike resident Brexiteers, the ONS is obviously not banking on a change in government to do anything to reduce the numbers immigrating to the UK.

More like 80million+ these are just the ones we know of, and it's a well known fact the ONS are fudging the figures

It's going to be interesting for future governments.
They can either have Net Zero or a functioning benefits system or an increasing population.
And they can only pick one.
I wonder which it shall be?

The official figures are dire enough, there's no need to be inventing others.

The official figures are dire enough, there's no need to be inventing others. Take it from me there is no inventing numbers, a woman who lives in Kent has said the numbers of illegal migrants who are entering the UK is far more than being reported, she said her and other residents witness boat after boat after boat on a daily basis, then they just wander around until authorities gather them up, she said the numbers being given is a 'lie', it's far worse than they are letting on.

Not sure why you would believe that Brexiteers expect Labour to reduce immigration - especially when they have already said they will increase it.

So the ONS may have to rethink their numbers in an upwards direction?
I only mention the Brexit connection since part of the USP was that leaving the EU would result in a decrease in the numbers arriving, although that has since been modified to read leaving the EU has provided the opportunity to elect a future government that will have the mandate to do it.
Is that likely to happen before the population hits 74 million?

I wonder which it shall be? It is certainly going to be an interesting decision. I think what we will find is that the post WW2 liberal welfare state model that was introduced throughout Europe turns out to be a blip in history. It was eventually going to become unaffordable anyway due to the stagnation in growth across Europe, but it's demise has certainly been hastened by the massive importation of people all wanting a slice of the pie (a pie they have not paid into).

Access to the pie is much more difficult in continental Europe since most important welfare benefits there including healthcare are based on having a contributions record and they are not, as in the UK, non-contributory based on means tests.

Indeed. And let's not forget that many of those imports do not share our, or our governments, values.

They stand there every day.counting them. Any way at least you at least admitted that Boris the lier is part of that lying Government. Who did nothing to stop the flow of immigration.
