England were the best team in the second half but they didn't take their chances. Kane is not going to sleep well tonight.

Oh well. England were unlucky. Bossed that game but lost in key moments. Good effort lads. No shame in that performance.

Kane had the chance to make himself the greatest striker in England's history and send the game to extra time.
But what does he do ? Blast the fucking ball into row Z

I think France is going to retain their title unless Morocco still hasnt showed all they.
I just can't see Argentina winning. They don't look like champions. Difficult to describe but they just don't have that feel about them.

It's all so predictable. England breezes through the group section and then get beaten by the first decent team they meet. And it's wrong to blame it on Kane - even if he'd got that penalty France would still have won.
The problem England have is not lack of ability - they have some very good players. It's their attitude that's wrong. And they get that from that pious dickhead Saint Gareth. He should have been sacked years ago. He has nurtured an attitude of "fear of failure" which is crippling the whole team - except possibly Saka who's probably too stupid to have any fear.
I wonder if anyone has been following the progress of the England Test Cricket team. They were losing nearly every match with Root as captain. Then Root resigned and they appointed Ben Stokes as captain. The team hasn't changed much (if at all) but now they're winning almost every game. It's an incredible transformation. Yet all Stokes (and McCullum) has done is tell people to stop fearing losing - and have fun.
Kane missed that penalty because the fear of failure crushed him. It should have been made clear to him that it's actually not possible for anyone to convert every penalty - you're bound to miss a few, so don't worry about it. It also might have been a good idea if Southgate had considered the fact that the French goalie and Kane both play for Arsenal - and therefore picking a different penalty kicker might have been a good idea. I absolutely knew he was going to miss that second penalty.

France always looked more threatening than England when they were in attack mode. I respectfully disagree Tor. Yes, France always looked a threat on the counter attack especially in the first half when we were a goal down. However, I thought they were rattled for a sizeable portion of the second half as they played many aimless balls to the by-line and ceded possession easily. I think there was a critical moment in the match, and it was Southgate's decision to haul off both Saka and Foden. Saka was winning free-kick upon free -kick and Hernandez? was struggling to deal with him as Mbappe wasn't tracking back and supporting him. Foden was technically good and a real live wire. Once these two came off our creativeness, fluidity and momentum halted, and I bet the French were glad to see the back of them. These gave them more impetus to get back in the game and I believe Southgate's decision swung the momentum back into France's favour.

What is it with England and penalties? Anyway, they think it's all over. It is now.

England lost? Bugger me. I just heard something about England on their way home. I thought they won their last game. The last thing I read before going to bed last night was a message across the bottom the screen on GB News that read 'Prince William is proud of the England team'.
