Germany out. Did Spain lose on purpose to have an easier path and get Germany out? Not sure but Germans have only themselves to blame for their elimination.

I haven't seen many games at the WC but the ones I have seen all play their games at a higher tempo than England.
Block head and Stones have way too much possession at a pedestrian pace thinking they're Franco Baresi and Paulo Maldini.
The Japs did well against Spain.
Any team could win this World Cup.

Still waiting for FIFA to show us the clear and convincing evidence that the on field decision was wrong and that the Japan goal had to be allowed And no this is not enough because we need to see the frame before and after to know that's the furthest the ball got.

Come now monte , lets not getting carried away as you anglo saxons have a desperate habit of doing so.
A good comfortable win , but lets reflect.
You beat a team of camel herders in the first game , drew with a country who call fitba soccer , and then put a poor welsh team to the sword , whose talismatic aging player was taken off injured he was that bad.
Typical southgate team......inspiring against lesser oppositon , and poor against passable opposition like the USA. He fears losing more than he wants to win , which isnt the hallmark of a great manager.
300 grand a week footballers should have spanked that group stage with their b team.
You will , or should easily beat senegal , best of a poor african bunch who again dont have their best player. As i said to my mate steve , i havent been so underwhelmed at a world cup in my life. I watched the english game , nearly fell asleep up to half time , and turned off once bale went off then the english scored.
The fact so many good european teams havent managed to qualify from the difficult european qualifiers , and yet crap like tunisia and others are there to "represent" the four corners of the globe show how far footballs elite competition has fallen.
Why arent these african , asian , oceanic and central american teams in play offs against the better european teams ?
Its like letting the cypriot champions into the champions league to make sure south east europe is represented.
If england cant win this world cup southgate should forget management......but he wont of course. As an FA yes man and bbc woke hero with his knee taking schtick , the jobs his for life where better managers would have been gven the boot.
Oh, and I don't identify as an Anglo-Saxon. I live in the land of the Iceni and give no credit to these Johnny come lately Germanic types. We followers of the flame haired warrior queen may have ultimately suffered defeat at the hands of the Italians but we gave them a bloody nose at Colchester, St Albans and London first. Came as close to kicking them out of Britain as we did to beating them in the Euros. Glorious defeats to be sure but at least we tried. sure mate , but your country is germanic while ours is celtic. In terms of original culture of course.
Anyway back to the world cup and its all going as expected , with the usual few slight variations. That japanes goal to beat spain was to be brutally honest a fecking shocker. I wonder if FIFA have taken a backhander of some betting syndicate? lol.
Germans out as expected after theri dismall performance , and the round of 16 starting to take shape mate. England have their usual bye to the quarter finals where they possibly should face their first proper test.
Have to reiterate the mount of poor quality teams at this world cup is shocking.

To be honest monte , on a serious note i have had enough of this borefest. I might watch the semis finals and final , but englandshire versus senegal? I would rather watch auchinleck versus neilston.
other way around monte. The french generally beat england and kicked them out of france with our help . We did a pretty damn good job on our own from the 7th century to the 16th wihtout much help from anyone.
I had to Google Auchinleck versus Neilston. My first thought was it was Auchinleck verses Rommel surely. OK I'll give you Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn wee Tommy, your boys done good, hands up you beat us fair and square but as everyone knows it's not the heats that matter it's the final and that was played on the fields at Culloden. In terms of actual battles and military campaigns its actually pretty even stevens monte over the course of the 7th century right down to the last skirmish in 1820 , the course of some 1300 years or thereabouts . In terms of the emergence of the scottish kingdom and the stalling of the anglo saxon kingdom pushing north and west , probably the greatest defeat for the english was the battle of dunnichen in the late 7th century.
There are so many battles to mention , and you english have suffered some cracking fucking defeats .
Back to the football , and the round of 6 is taking shape. So far its looking like a progression for all the euro teams and one south american from the ties we know , but of course you just never know what will happen. The english should comfortably beat senegal , cant really see too many upsets ( famous last words lol).
Did you see the head of fifa infantino sitting in the stands like fucking caligula at the colloseum? looks like somthing out the godfather.

We're representing Britain; we've got to do or die For Scotland cannae dae it 'cause they didnae qualify. Nah, we're representing England and England only, and have just won the battle of Britain. battle of britain? Sounds like a battle between competitors to me buccy. Who said again england doesnt have any rivals in these islands lmfao?
The small time winning mentality of the englishman shines through again. The argies and brazilians are looking to win the world cup and england are delirious beating a half dead wales team.

And no tragedy that Iran, Qatar and now Saudi Arabia. Three of the most repressive countries in the world have all been removed from the competition. England is now the last remaining Muslim nation in the competition.
Dont mate or you will start a binfire in this thread with the usual suspects.

I did a tour along Hadrian's wall a few years ago visiting most of the border castles on the way including Prudhoe castle which was the only one that didn't fall into the hands of the Scots. I made special effort to visit places with a connection to old Longshanks himself. The back and fro was indeed more even than you might think but there's a reason he was called the Hammer of the Scots. I think it's no coincidence that his name can be translated as small child. I'm hoping his days are numbered. England should beat Senegal but as I constantly remind people ''never underestimate England's ability to screw it up''. Hopefully Senegal play an open game which will play to our strength rather than a defensive game which exploits our weaknesses. Maybe Japan have another upset in them and USA at their best can beat a poor Netherlands.

Maybe Japan have another upset in them and USA at their best can beat a poor Netherlands. longshanks was a failure , because ultimately he failed to conquer the whole of scotland and incorporate us into his kingdom. Scotlands gereat strength was our mountainous landscape. Military historians call scotland the afghanistan of north west europe , and prior to Wades roads and modern technology much of our country was simply beyond the ability of invading armies to control.
Englands great weakness to me is southgates timidity. If 300 grand a week premier league players cant comfortably beat an african team who are without their best player then they should forget playing international football.
I like japan. They look good. The netherlands are poor , but england made the yanks look good in the group stage. I suppose anything can happen on the day though.
