We need 20,000 howitzers, hundreds more tanks than we have, even if they're leopard 2's, mini drones, bomb drones, hundreds more MLRS systems. More tomahawk missiles. More NLAWs rockets, everything.
We didn't want war with Russia, but Russia is at war with us whether we want that or not. Putin has made his mind up.
Appeasement failed, just as it did in the 1930's, but at least in the 1930's our government rebuilt our military.
We need to rebuild, otherwise the worst dictator of our era will go to greater lengths to try to rebuild an empire and kill millions more whilst trying.

So you keep saying Vinny, but unless you are intending to take Russia on in Latvia on our own, you haven't explained why.
A reminder again after 12 months of very costly warfare, Russia has taken perhaps 10% of Ukraine territory next door to Russia with a Russian speaking and sympathetic populace. It doesnt feel like they will be rocking up to Birmingham any day soon.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel very privileged to be sharing a chat-forum with a Kremlin insider like Vinny who is evidently privy to Vlasimir Putin's most intimate thoughts and secrets.
The only question remaining though is where are the men people going to come from to operate Vinny's mega-shopping list of things that make very loud bangs?

If Ukraine falls Putin will invade Moldova, Poland, Finland, Latvia, large conventional forces are needed in order to deter conventional invasions. Otherwise, it's nuclear war. What Nato has that Ukraine doesn't is air power . Putin would be very foolish to invade another country and why should we play his game of trench warfare ?

Putin has already invaded Chechnya and Ukraine, what makes you think he wouldn't try?
He thinks the NATO countries are cowards. He thinks he can do as he pleases and everyone else will back down.
There are mass graves in both Chechnya and Ukraine because his forces carried out mass executions of unarmed prisoners.
He's a menace and he needs to be killed. Helping Ukraine will help prevent a wider war and give the Russians the opportunity they need to execute Putin and his cronies.

MPs have been warned that the British armed forces are “haemorrhaging” troops faster than they can recruit as uninterested young people and draconian entry requirements have left the British Army knee-deep in a “disastrous” military staffing crisis. A decades-long recruitment slump means the British Army is at its smallest since the 1850s, and it will likely miss this year’s target by a third, outsourcing contractor Capita admitted at a defence select committee inquiry. Capita’s chief executive of public service Richard Holroyd said 150-day waiting times for potential recruits meant young people were being “attracted elsewhere” before they could be accepted. The recruitment delays have been blamed on the rigorous medical assessments candidates must pass in order to join the armed forces. Capita’s response to the crisis has been to drop standards for potential candidates linkWhy on earth is there a 150 day waiting time for recruits? I know times change but when I joined it took just a couple of weeks. I walked into the recruiting office on 12 December 1976, and was at the recruit selection centre on January 3 1977. Where the hell does this 150 day wait come from? The problem, or one of the problems is the fact that the MoD are more concerned about hitting diversity targets than recruiting suitable fit young men.

Yep scrap diversity targets. Bullets don't care about equality or diversity quotas. The best people for the job are the people able to accurately shoot first, plan, prepare and execute operations and hit the enemy where it hurts. The worst people for the job are those easily offended because men's service kit doesn't come with bras or tampons.

Remember Ukraine had biolabs close to Russia which Vicky Nuland had to explain to the Senate.
Then you had a kill team in Ukraine attacking the police & protesters marshalling a pro-Eu protest, the same happened in Damascus yet Assad decided to fight and is still fighting Turkish backed Muslim extremists in the north and Americans in the Syrian desert allegedly protecting against ISIS though really protecting the Kurds.
Then you had Russians burnt to death in Odessa by extremist Ukrainian nationalists.
Putin will not invade unless other countries go over a red line threatening the Russian homeland. They want foreign currency not foreign wars in Europe.
The US Dems like Boris have too many of the European emigres that had to flee Russia or Russian occupied territories in the past 200 years so think by playing nuclear dare they can intimidate Russia, one false move and it is Apocalypse Now.
Remember how upset Obama got when we wanted Brexit.......... Part of the US wants hegemonic control of the world.

A reminder that when Russia invaded Germany sent hats to Ukraine..

We did that before and it cost this country dearly, and Germany still got their Fascist Empire.

Russia has it's own biolabs, it's own radioactive poison and chemical poison labs, a dictatorship which has even murdered British citizens on British soil.
I don't agree with Putin's arguments for invasion.
The man is a criminal trying to rebuild an empire and 20 percent of Ukraine is occupied. 100 percent of Chechnya is occupied. Parts of Georgia are occupied.
Russian speaking civilians is no excuse. My Ukrainian friend is a Russian speaker.
Putin's thugs still shelled her city and tried to kill her.

US generals in damning slap down of Britain: 'UK military too small to fight'The army has failed to reach its recruitment target for soldiers every year for the past decade. New analysis has revealed that the British army will have fewer than 70,000 soldiers within two years. The figures have prompted concern among European and American generals who have questioned whether the UK can still be considered a top-level fighting force. Based on present trends, the army will be 52,000 strong in a decade's time. This is small enough to fit inside Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. The figures, complied by The Times, show that if the army continues to lose troops at its present rate, the number of regular soldiers will fall to 67,741 by 2026 - linkThe last two army recruitment ads I've seem feature women, black women and white women, but not men. The message the MoD are sending out is that the largest demographic in the country, young fit white men, are not wanted. So guess what, young fit white men aren't joining. You reap what you sow.

Finland is guarding its borders more , Sweden Poland is preparing for war and yesterday in the Media
" Admiral Rob Bauer - chair of the Nato military committee - warned this week that civilians need to be ready for a conflict that will change their lives.
As the globe faces its "most dangerous and volatile moment" in history, large numbers of private citizens will need to be mobilised.
During a crunch summit between Nato defence chiefs in Brussels, Bauer said: "We need to be readier across the whole spectrum.
"You have to have a system in place to find more people if it comes to war, whether it does or not. "

I thought the idea of having nukes was so we don't have to have large conventional forces? The days of sending boys to their deaths in great numbers are long gone and more kit less people seems the order of the day . Having said that we do seem to have reduced our military capability to a small unit within NATO and is probably why we say "how high" when the USA says "jump" . Not that Im a expert in such matters (far from it ) but I would see a build up of the navy and air force as a priority for our future needs I forget the name of the individual now, it was so long ago, but a few years before the falklands debacle blew up a naval bloke at the admiralty piped up that it was all very well having cruise missiles but right now if half a dozen belligerent shitbags rocked up at a crisis point with a rowing boat and a couple of shotguns we would have no means of usefully engaging them. In the famous john nott ‘here today and gone tomorrow’ interview this very point was raised by Robin Day
