Labour seems deadlocked into this cycle of self-destruction, completely bereft of the courage to offer the electorate a genuine alternative to Conservative ideology. The unfortunate British public has only begun to suffer the consequences. The same thing has happened to the conservatives, who have remained (functionally) one semitone right of Blair and whose establishment fiercely resists any democratic attempt to move that needle. It's a gambit and a feedback loop. What is needed is for politics to somehow clear out all these useless charlatans on both sides and have parties filled (or mostly filled) with non psychopaths who sincerely believe what they are doing is best for the country and for the population to be allowed to choose between these proposals. How the hell we get from the broken, dysfunctional parties we presently have, to there is an open question. My own sense is that UK politics broke in the late nineties and it is still broken. |

Not just in Scotland and England , but across potentially the western world , all the main political parties seemed to have morphed into an imitation of each other , pursuing globalist centrist liberal policies against the wishes of not just their bases , but nations as well. There are very few uk politicians now I could honestly say I admire or like , which I did in the past even when I politically disagreed with them. Drakeford in Wales , useless in Edinburgh , and Sunak in London merely epitomise the utter decline and depravity of current uk politics. Scholz and macron similar in Europe. As for yank land , what is enfolding beggars belief. Imagine being that bad( democrats and Biden) that you make Donald trump look like a political titan?
