A 'protected' characteristic. I think you need to explain yourself. Do you know what the equality act says, what it demands and how that will take affect? You seemed certain that it included everyone yet seem unsure of what a protected characteristic is. One side example to help you along. Operation Black Vote is a body that receives public funds;- I quote from their website "Operation Black Vote’s work covers four main areas: Political education: This aims to raise awareness and understanding of democratic and civic society through citizenship projects. Political participation: This aims to improve engagement with civic society through local and national voter registration and other civic participation campaigns. Political representation: This aims to increase political representation of Black and minority ethnic communities, through encouraging engagement; undertaking ground-breaking mentoring schemes; lobbying political parties and civic institutions on the benefits of representative bodies. Promotion of equality and human rights: increasing the awareness of a progressive equality and human rights agenda." I would draw your attention specifically to the political representation mentoring schemes which is open only to BAME candidates. It is a pressure group that works for ethnic minorities only and excludes white candidates from its programmes.

my opinion on this forum is as valid as yours , and we are discussing quite obviously labours previous record in power , across this forum , and of course their current record in Wales where they sadly remain.Looking ahead though , the average of the last few polls for the next general election has a turnout of around 50%. Arguably , this would give keir starmer and your dodgy new Labour Party , if they win , the weakest government on the lowest democratic mandate in uk electoral history of the modern era. Keir starmer has spent the last few years sitting on his hands , trying desperately to say and do nothing. Eventually , if he does indeed fall into place ,he will of course have to come out the bunker and start making decisions , and then I , and everyone else , will judge him accordingly. Make no mistake , we will be here pointing the finger at his every move. Yes of course, but there isn't much point in discussing opinions. Do you fully understand what's going on in Wales, and why they apparently prefer Labour control rather than anything else that's on offer ? If you don't then perhaps you should stop whinging on their behalf. New Labour's period in power was brilliant compared to the 18 years of Tory government that preceded it. It very much appears to be the case that you have sucked in any and all anti-NL propaganda as fast as you can. The number of voters that turn out vary from election to election. The winner still has to run the country. The last few years has seen a number of changes that point to necessary changes in the priorities of the next government. It would not matter what Labour had done in the last few years, you appear to have a deep emotional need to denigrate Labour, and that is not Logical debate, nor is it political debate. I hope you begin to practice logical political debate i.e. Criticize where criticism is due, and give credit where credit is due. I appear to understand whats going on better than you , a person who struggles with the basic concept of devolution , and seems completely unaware of most of what the labour government in Wales gets up to.

Operation Black Vote was supported by David Cameron in 2016, he'd hoped to use it to bolster the remain vote. He didn't expect large numbers of Black and Asian ethnic minorities not liking the EU and voting leave.

That said, anyone going to Wales spends most of their time driving round the same hill, so there is certainly a case for filling in all the valleys.

An extremely unscientific poll among my Black and Asian friends reveals sympathy for Brexit and the need for more ethnic policemen to hand out backhanders to wayward youth when necessary (which they deem most of the time)

Of course it is all about what people say it is about however no matter which way you look at it then individuals from the group that are excluded from the programme(s) are discriminated against due to a 'protected' characteristic that the Equality Act is specifically meant to protect. The whole idea of equality is to treat all individuals as discrete individuals free from the beliefs that any 'protected' characteristic should have a bearing on their capability or selection. The Equality Act 2010 ensures that those characteristics do have a bearing on selection and to the specific disadvantage to those who currently form the majority of whichever characteristic(s) is (are) considered.

Even higher than Scotlands 62% remain vote. I thought patman post always told me it was the blue rinse and Colonel Blimp types who voted leave?

I live in England, I'm 4rth generation English. I am concerned with what laws and regulations Parliament imposes on me.

There's plenty of non welsh people on these threads who consistently ask why if labour can't do much good in the one fiefdom they are in charge ,why should we elect them elsewhere based on their past and present puerile records of failure?

I lived in a gorgeous Welsh Valley complete with a local pottery, small river floating through and houses dotted about the hillsides, back in the 1940s, safe from Hitler's bombs. So my vote is to keep a welcome in the hillsides and keep a welcome in the vales.
