He has a new dictionary definition of "clearing the backlog" which is alien to you or I. How can we take this man seriously after the 'reduced the number of boats' claim? He is a serial liar. Trouble is he is far from alone in that. Most politicians are serial liars, from Starmer to Johnson, and from Blair to Clegg. None of the senior politiciams of any mainstream party are people worthy of trust. As illustrated by Ed Davey and the post office scandal and now trying and failing to distance himself.

but very popular with the electorate. I asked Squeezed, so only fair I ask you too. Do you have evidence of this, or are you trying to portray your opinion as fact? Conservative voters back withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) by a two to one majority, an exclusive poll for The Telegraph has shown. The survey of 2,760 adults showed 43 per cent of Tory voters favour quitting the ECHR, against 22 per cent who are opposed, in the wake of European human rights judges grounding the first flight to take migrants to Rwanda. The remainder were undecided or did not know. The poll, by Electoral Calculus and Find Out Now, revealed deep divisions over the Rwanda asylum policy largely along party and Brexit lines, with just four per cent of Labour voters backing withdrawal from the ECHR and 65 per cent opposing it. The findings, based on 589 Tory voters and 434 Labour supporters, demonstrate not only how far control of immigration is a touchstone issue for the Conservatives, but also how far the policy is a potential vote-winner in Red Wall seats. The day after the European Court of Human Rights intervened to block the flight, a WhatsApp group lit up with demands by Red Wall Tory MPs, such as Jonathan Gullis, Brendan Clarke-Smith and Alex Stafford, for the Government to quit the convention. www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/06/18/decisive-majority-tory-voters-back-leaving-echr-rwanda-policy/[I'm sure you could have found this yourself]

That doesn't say what you claimed.
It shows that it's popular with SOME of the electorate. I'm sure that you don't need me to tell you that Conservative voters are a minority of the electorate.
Unfortunately what the article doesn't show is the view of ALL of the electorate, but rather just Tories and Labour.
Edited to add: it wasn't even a majority of Tories polled, and their headline was misleading.

It seems to me pretty obvious that if a full report could be compiled detailing the extent to which undeserving foreigners have been able to make use of the HRA/ECvHR to evade deportation or thwart the immigration regulations, beginning with the Afghan hijackers case, the public would be incensed and demand 'something be done about it'.

Think that confirms Carty's point.

Actually, it's worse than that, they don't actually understand that they are THEIR rights that they want abolished. Some of the dishonest media have you believe that human rights only apply to foreigners. I'm just surprised that people are gullible like that. So when do the VICTIMS receive their rights Andy?

They should apply equally to everybody. Which rights do victims not have?

You are a victim if you pay taxes in the UK Andy. And which human rights don't you have? My hard earned taxes goes to put up criminals in hotels. Of course if I were a different colour and pointed my arse skywards 3 times a day all would be OK.

Not until I am attacked or robbed by ethnics. Which human rights have you lost? If you can't see the disparity between blacks and whites that's down to you Andy. It also helps if you ware a short skirt and have a smile when you have to go before the bench.
