In 1964 after 13 years of Conservative government the incoming Labour government inherited the 'largest deficit in trade ever recorded up to that time'. And that was at a time when exports were our biggest form of income. In 1997 after 18 years of conservative government the incoming New Labour government inherited two deliberately contrived huge economic black holes in Education and the NHS, plus the loss of ownership of North sea oil, electricity, natural gas, and water. Amongst other resources that had been sold off. Just how huge the amount of damage that will be inherited at the next election after 13 years of Conservative government is as yet unknown, but it will be huge, regardless of the colour of the next government. |

See i was aroind in 1964, even though i was 7 i was aware. Britian at that time was going bust, no north sea oil nothing, war in Ireland, the news was about the country going bankrupt. The Tories, if they were in charge, i cant remember, were highly likely keeping this country afloat.

"Keeping the country afloat" if the Tories were doing that they would have remained in office. As for your request, I have never been a socialist, and the UK has only ever once had a socialist government, that was in 1945/1951 led by Clem Attlee after the end of WWII. He set out to make Britain "a home fit for heroes". We have to thank him for the NHS amongst other things. |
