In the past decade alone no fewar than 129 murderers who were jailed for life were freed to kill again - link - Just imagine how many innocent people would be alive today if the punishment properly fitted the crime. Why do lefties always mention Evans? Things have moved on quite a lot over the past 70 years. Back then there was no such thing as DNA profiling. Unlike today prison was a strict and austere environment in which offenders did not want to visit twice. Today lefty lawyers would have a field day if prisoners were incarcerated in strict austere prisons. Not interested in USA. The answer seems obvious. Life in prison should mean life in prison. Solves both problems. Well yes, if the sentence is life in prison it should indeed mean life in prison. But in cases of premeditated cold blooded murder the judge should have the option of donning the black cap.

Solves both problems. But it solves neither, and leaves victims of crime, and families of victims of homicide, and witnesses and families of witnesses living in permanent fear that some lefty twat like wankford or starmer will let the fuckers out to msje good on their threats because the votes if left leaning murdering scum are more important than the lives of leave voters. Carl Whant rightly rots in a Bridgend prison but while on remand for his crimes made it clear he was going to organise the killing of all the witnesses yo his crime whose testimony put him away. My daughter is one of those. Police protection ended shortly after the shitbag was locked up. Wankford is on record saying he should be able to vote. How long before his release into a tory marginal constituency, like Pembroke, where they packed off all the asylum seekers that have the vote in wales, becomes a priority to topple tbe tory AM there ?

People mentally ill with what are perceived as criminal tendencies can be sometimes controlled in their behaviour, those beyond such help should be incarcerated in a place not to punish them because they are ill and act beyond the normal boundaries of human behaviour.

But that puts you back in the "oops we got it wrong camp" Michael Adebowale beheaded Lee Rigby in the street in broad daylight in front of dozens of witnesses. How much proof do you need?..

Just think Red how much capital punsihment would save Italian tax payers.
Pakistani 'honour killing' parents are jailed for life in Italy over the murder of their daughter, 18, who had her neck broken when she refused an arranged marriage
Saman Abbas, 18, was living near Bologna when she disappeared in May 2021 She had rejected her family's demands to marry a cousin, with a court ruling that her parents had ordered her killing and that she was strangled by her uncle
Cool. Immigrants and lefty judges in one post. Double points awarded. Thank you kind sir. It seems some of us have our balls between our legs and not protruding from our brows.

Capital punishment just wouldn’t be allowed to happen . The law might be passed but there would be so much resistance against it that it wouldn’t be viable.

700 murders per year x £50,000 upkeep = £35,000,000 per year.
Most murderers are between 20-30 so that 55 years of imprisonment which will be 38,500 total murderers in prison.
£50,000 x 38,500 = £2,000,000,000 a year just on murderers... that is why life will never mean life in prison.

Not so , Belarus still has the death penalty and Latvia (2012 ) was the last EU member to completely abolish it . The UK I believe did under the Blair government 1998 Its a wonder Bierton wasn't given a whole life sentence rather than life with a minimum order ,the judge fecked it up . OK then, one of the last countries in Europe. __"The last executions in the United Kingdom were by hanging, and took place in 1964; capital punishment for murder was suspended in 1965 and finally abolished in 1969 (1973 in Northern Ireland). Indeed , the death penalty was still an option though up until 1998 for other offences such as treason ,arson in her majesty's shipyard and there was something about shagging princesses without the queens permission but not sure what that was all about . I think Blair was covering his bases

People convicted of murder get a compulsory life sentence but contrary to the illinformed’s view, that is not intended to mean life in prison in the vast majority of cases. Offenders serve the initial part of their sentence in jail and then subsequently serve the rest of their sentence in the community with often quite strict license conditions meaning they can be recalled to prison without committing any further offence.

Singapore is one of the safest places on Earth. Harsh punishment is meted out and capital punishment still happens.
The result: A cohesive, stable society with very little crime. Women can walk alone on the streets at night knowing full well the law is on their side.
It's not only a harsh punishment that pulls Singaporeans together it's also a fantastic deterrent for anyone thinking that a life of crime would be worth living in Singapore. It most certainly isn't - it's literally a death sentence.
In comparison, we have Western society that practically encourages a life of crime with its pussyfooting, meek consequences, human rights laws and rehabilitative nature.
The result: an incohesive, unstable society with crime aplenty. Women can't walk alone on the streets at night because they know full well the law is basically on the side of the perpetrator.
