Free speech for me but not for thee. Embrace that cancel culture. I signed the petition because Lineker broke BBC social media rules, a fact that has been conceded by BBC chairman designate Samir Shah.

He's right that a crime was committed. But it wasn't a thought crime. A thought crime is a crime that requires only mens rea. Sounds like legal diarrhoea,I’m not religious so if someone shouts outside an abortion clinic “you’re a sinner” that’s a crime being stood there silent is not. www.lbc.co.uk/news/police-sorry-abortion-clinic-silent-prayer-arrest/I don’t think they should have apologised. The council set up an exclusion zone inside which a number of actions were illegal Praying was one of those actions The woman was arrested on suspicion of acting in breach of a Public Spaces Protection Order. If you - and i mean you and other readers / contributors in this thread specifically, not some general attribution to persons in general, wish to make a complaint that prayer is a protected right under some human rights act and that as a result it is not legal to include it in a list of acts prohibited in a particular public space, then you should make your case to your MP not whine that the police are carrying out the letter of the law. I’ll join you in such a complaint i think the law has never been such an ass but then i don’t believe Blair should have been allowed to pass the PSPO legislation and when it was used to arrest pavement drinkers at tables outside Bristol and Bath pubs i laughed my fucking rocks off.

It's hilarious seeing all these lefties now getting so concerned about cancel culture - when it was them doing the cancelling there was no issue at all... It's the lies and trolling that gets me. I am against the BBC tax. I am uninterested in everything the BBC is offering. I find Lineker to be a total spoilt twat who trolls the country with his hypocritical and selective far-left nonsense as a demonstration of how much the BBC has sunk. His actions validates my position on the BBC, yet the bullshitting lefties on here are twisting that to mean I and those like me are for cancel culture when I am simply against the BBC and its double standards, hypocrisy and daylight robbery.
This thread is proof of just how dishonest and disgusting the Left really are, where they attempt to project their top-down elitist fascism onto others when there is no comparison.
The Left support cancel culture, even on here, and will rely on their own lies to project that disgusting behaviour onto others whilst they continue to embrace cancel culture to support their own agendas. It's why I see no point in engaging with them.

It is just the opinion of the government appointee. Even he wasn't sure which is why he said ''seemed to breach the guidelines''. It's going to take a lot more than that to get rid of Lineker.

No one is trying to cancel Lineker. People are against him being paid by the BBC whilst he's pushing YOUR exclusive propaganda, which goes against the BBC charter. It really is that simple. If he wasn't being paid with our money, where we have no choice but to pay it if we require live streams, then nobody would give a damn. Perhaps if you could actually address the topic instead of trolling it the forum wouldn't be this moronic.

When Blair left office in 2007, the economy, living standards, public services including the NHS were all in better shape than when Blair came to office ten years earlier.
The same cannot be said for Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss or Sunak, public services are all at breaking point, children wait months for URGENT appointments in mental health services, ambulance response times are appaling. Waiting times and waiting lists are horrendous.
Living standards have fallen, National Debt has never been higher, growth has been very poor for years, and successive Conservative Prime Ministers have simply bounced from one crisis to another.
Its feeling very much like 1995 - 1996, with the Tories slumping in the polls, and scandal after scandal leading to massive by-election defeats for the Tories.
People are simply tired of the Conservatives, the electorate have had enough of them, people want change, its time to let someone else manage the country because after 14 years, the Conservatives have achieved nothing except failure.

Those who support the BBC being used as a platform to spread far-left propaganda, which goes against the BBC's rules, aren't the sort of people I would consider fit for purpose.

Here's another report - similar story. If the Police arrest the woman it prevents her having the right to silently pray in the street. She was taken away to the Police Station under arrest, so her rights to stand there were infringed. So, practically speaking, that lady could not stand in the street praying silently. If she did the same again, there is no guarantee that another officer would not do the same. righttolife.org.uk/news/woman-arrested-for-silent-prayer-outside-abortion-clinic-issued-apology-by-police-as-all-charges-droppedTechnically, not illegal or a thought crime. Practically speaking, she got locked up and her rights were trampled all over.

Want to bet who will last longer at the BBC? The next chairman or Gary Lineker? I sense Lineker may be burning his bridges, he's got a big mouth and his bosses (IMO) are fed up with constantly defending his outbursts. In publicly admitting that Lineker broke BBC rules perhaps Samia Shah is giving him a heads up that his contract will not be renewed because he is too controversial too much trouble. I suppose time will tell.

johnofgwent I do agree with John on this. When asked, the woman did admit that her thoughts were of the prayerful kind . And let's also keep in mind that when Parliament was given the change to specifically exempt silent prayer from being an offence within the specified area of abortion clinics, our MP's decided they preferred to keep it as an offence. Suella was very careful in her choice of words on the subject: "silent prayer, in itself, is not unlawful". Your thought only becomes part of a crime if you continue to have it when you have two feet inside the exclusion zone, i.e anywhere in about 500 feet proximity of an abortion clinic. The thoughts would not be illegal if you had them sitting on your sofa at home, or in the cafe down the road from the abortion clinic, or if you had the same naughty thoughts will stood outside of the exclusion zone, hence. “So you would rather be arrested and taken away than stand outside the exclusion zone, is that what you’re saying?” the officer asked. Your location, should you intend to indulge in 'wrong think' is of critical importance.
