You do not understand the that there is more possibility of the "children from poorer working class backgrounds" reaching a higher level of education using the Comprehensive school system.

Well that is nonsense - there are more University places available nowdays than there was when we had Grammar Schools so of course there is more opportunity to go..  Agree - -"Record numbers of students take up university -------------The above is the reason why.Bullsh*t from See2 yet again There are more ''universities'' awarding degrees (ie polys/ colleges masquerading as universities) than ever before so there are a humungous number of places available A level standards in state schools have plummeted to the extent that A grades are distributed like confetti and any old thicko can get into university I heard on the radio news earlier that ''Dolly Parton Studies'' is a new course now being offered by a UK university - maybe you can do a double honours with golf club management or one of the other mickey mouse degrees on offer. Read earlier that the Vennels woman, Post Office CEO (and later chair of a NHS health trust) somehow got into these top public jobs with a degree in French and Russian - more practical than a Dolly Parton degree I know - but how the hell did something like that and with no business experience qualify her to running multi million public sector jobs ? |

There are still some schools that accept students that pass an entry exam. Theresa May got herself well educated by starting her education in a Comprehensive. Comprehensives give more people an opportunity to enjoy higher education, including many of those referred to as late starters. EDIT: Perhaps you have forgotten that Starmer didn't buy it. Not at all - he got the taxpayer to fund his private education. The 'opportunities' offered by Comprehensives were not taken up for some reason.. HE didn't get the tax payer to pay for his education he had already academically earned his position in that school before it went private. There should be a limit to the number of moronic posts you are allowed to post. |

There are only more spaces at universities because there are more applications for places, and students from comprehensive schooling helped make up the numbers. One of the main problems with the 11+ to grammar school system is that it limited the numbers passing through the system. Exacerbated by the decisions on who did and who did not get a grammar school place taken on a single test on a single day. A second chance at age 13 depended on the student keeping up with the two years of grammar school education they had missed. |

I think events of late reinforce what some of us have known all along,start an illegal war see a lot of people die because it was all done on a false premise and get a knighthood make pots of money pour your poison down other peoples ears through your institute for global change.
Be a little person serving the community you are a robber so got to jail kill your self we don’t care the computer is infallible and never wrong you’re a thief and we have the resources to crush you and we will.
Perhaps we should all ask for our taxes back using the Ed Davey defence that were lied to and misled isn’t that routine after reading manifesto pledges which are then dropped?

The places masquerading as universities are offering an opportunity for some people to stay in education even if they are not able to reach university level, which is a positive, I'm sure there are many more relevant courses than one on Dolly Parton.
