never does though with new labour worshippers fair when they start getting called out on their nonsense and historical revisionism of the disastrous Blair days. As lefties like Owen jones say , among many others , they allowed the living standards of millions to fall sharply long before the disaster of the financial crash that they helped along with their lax regulation.Never mind their excessive and needless debt pushed onto taxpayers for generations. Stop posting silly posts about me, it makes you look so immature. back on subject.... Alert readers will perhaps recall our story on the shocking PFI scandal that saw Labour-run North Lanarkshire Council needlessly throw away almost £600m of public money, because it was only about four hours ago that we published it. But some excellent sleuthing by a keen-eyed reader in the comments has thrown up some startling new information that makes the £729m cost of a £150m school-building programme look an even more appalling piece of financial mismanagement.
The contract was signed in 2006/07, the last year of the Labour-led “Scottish Executive”. Over its two Holyrood administrations from 1999, Labour had managed to under-spend the Scottish block grant to the collective tune of £1.5bn – money which was returned to the Treasury at Westminster because, incredibly, Donald Dewar, Henry McLeish and Jack McConnell just couldn’t think of anything to spend it on.
(£1.5bn would have been enough in 2006 to build the Glasgow [£210m] and Edinburgh [£500m] Airport Rail Links and upgrade the entire A9 to dual-carriageway [£600m], spreading the benefits around the country and with £190m still left over.)
On taking control of the Parliament in 2007, the SNP minority government was able to reach an agreement to recover the money for Scotland over the four years of its first term (see paragraph 19 on page 9 here), so at least this huge sum wasn’t completely lost – although of course, a third of it has in essence been uselessly swallowed up in paying off the PFI debt for this one project alone. But nevertheless, the information leads to a mind-boggling and horrifying conclusion:
A Labour council, operating under a Labour Scottish Executive and a Labour government at Westminster, needed to spend £150m on its schools, but rather than use a small fraction of the effectively free money that was sitting around unspent in the Executive’s coffers, signed off on a PFI contract that would cost Scottish taxpayers £729m to do the exact same job.
Bumbling incompetence is one thing. But if we were the current Scottish Government we’d have police crawling all over North Lanarkshire trying to find out how anything so self-evidently insane, and such an utterly criminal waste of taxpayers’ money, was ever allowed to happen. And when we found out, we’d want to see some bodies hanging from Motherwell lamp-posts before the sun went down.

You will have to do better than to just offer cherry picked numbers. Give information on just how such figures were reached, if you can't, there can be no debate, because insinuations count for nothing. the links in the post. Are you now incapable of reading? So you can't. Just be honest and say so.

I thought you'd just been told to 'keep it civil', that didn't last long. My post was sent before I read the message. LOL... so you actually need to be told to be civil.

the links in the post. Are you now incapable of reading? So you can't. Just be honest and say so. it always ends the same way with people like you see 2 who compulsively lie. Its not even an intelligent lie , and only you would pick the disaster that is labours PFI legacy as a hill to die on. Once again , can I politely ask you to back up your earlier comment , and tell the forum how the financial crash impacted labours PFI contracts in the way you claim. Over to you once again.

the links in the post. Are you now incapable of reading? So you can't. Just be honest and say so. see 2 , you claimed new labours disastrous PFI contracts ran into problems because of the financial crash. We emphatically know that isn't the case in Scotland , because in 2008 , the then snp minority administration set up the Scottish futures trust during the height of the financial crash , and far from making new labours disastrous PFI contracts worse , they managed to renegotiate these contracts so that they saved Scottish taxpayers nearly half the money new labour had comically signed us up to. Showing how fucking imbecilic new labour were at negotiating these contracts in the first place. must try harder see 2.

Simple truth is Blair was the worst PM of my lifetime, even worse than Truss.
Didn't do anything good. Surrendered sovereignty to the EU. Came up with pointless devolution wasting an absolute fortune. Waged wars that need not have been fought. Appeased tyrants without getting anything in return.
Undermined our military whilst pushing for the EU to have one.

I don't say this lightly, but I don't think any prime minister in the 300 hundred years of this union has ever done as much damage to Scotland England Northern Ireland and Wales as Tony Blair did. A man the masses have a visceral dislike for and for whom history will not be kind to.

I think you would agree that the figures given and the huge differences between the two sets of figures is crazy. (not necessarily wrong). To just accept them is almost as crazy. There must be something amiss, either the original assessed cost (by goodness knows who) were crazy or there has to be a reason why the schools cost so much. without further information it is just a barren insinuation. If anyone can offer some actual information of what exactly went on, then everyone would be better informed.

New Labour appeased Putin despite evidence from the security services that Putin was a criminal.
They sold arms to dodgy regimes and stifled Serious Fraud Office investigations.
They did nothing about genocide in Sudan, whilst making matters worse in the Middle East.
They gave away sovereignty to the EU for nothing in return.
Our industries were run down.
Draconian amendments were made to the types of firearms that could be owned on a firearms certificate without need after Dunblane.
Thomas Hamilton wasn't a member of any gun club and did not have character references for a firearms certificate. Even under pre 1997 rules he did not qualify for one. The Police fucked up. He should not have been issued with a firearms certificate. And his arguments for getting one were highly dubious. His argument for his two revolvers was "if the two Browning Hi Powers jammed". And government covered that up.
There is no situation on a range where your gun jamming would be a massive problem. Just pull the slide back, eject the dud cartridge and try again. If that fails, take it to bits, clean it, put it back together again. And if something like a spring has failed, change it.
The authorities did not challenge the man and Labour did not challenge the authorities who had fucked up.
There is no reason as to why someone of sound mind and good character, with references, should not be allowed to fire self loading cartridge pistols on a range of a club they're members of, if they so wish.
We allow the ownership of straight pull rifles with high capacity magazines. A straight pull AR15 in the wrong hands would kill tens of people, but the licence system requires references and reason for ownership. That screens out nutters.
There's no reason why someone of sound mind should not be allowed a .45 calibre Colt 1911. But Labour punished thousands of legal gun owners taking away pistols without compensation.
Blair did NO GOOD whatsoever.

You begin with a stupid one eyed comment which we have been over once before, and which makes the rest of your post entirely ignorable. You are another poster who needs to look up and absorb the meaning of the words 'subjective and objective'.
