If Dowdens prophecies of the inevitable impact of imposing 13 years of Tory Government on a once proud nation do come true, Red, I bet you will regret allowing those feral black pudding to be hunted to extinction in those Staffordshire northern fields…. 13 years of Tory government! The Tories have been in power since 2015, I may not be a quantum mathematician, but I reckon that's closer to eight years. Just remind me who was in prime minister from 2010-2015.

Since 2010, they were the dominant power in the first five years. Or do you believe they were easy meat for the Lib Dems? LibDem Rodney Trotter was deputy prime minister of the ConLib coalition. And Cameron was let me check oh yes a Tory PM.
The 2010 parliament was of course the last one in which the PM survived the full term of the parliament. So much for strong and stable governments under FPTP….

I have never said the UK has 'fall back' coal power stations. Quite obviously some coal power stations should have been mothballed not demolished and we should be fracking rather than importing 10 billion cubic metres of shale gas from the US. Net zero is economics of the mad house. The newest carbon capture gas fired Power station is set to come on line in the next few years. "SSE Thermal's Keadby Carbon Capture Power Station, near Scunthorpe, the UK's first gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage (CCS) by the mid-2020s. The Keadby Carbon Capture Power Station is a joint venture between SSE and Norwegian Petroleum refining company, Equinor. Cant find anything at the mo, but will Keadby burn Norwegian gas?

You are avoiding the point ^^^ which is that there is a pathway to having clean back up energy for wind power in the future. Also, "Analysis of the value for money of a tidal range scheme needs to take into account its long operating life and benefits accrued long after its capital costs have been repaid. Also. "Today, scaled and full-size wave energy prototypes are being tested at sea. The most advanced device developers are planning and building the first multi-device wave energy farms around Europe, most notably in the UK, Portugal, Spain and Italy.

I can just imagine the likes of ancient Egyptians who built pyramids with no more than a handful of tools, laughing their head off at us.
To think over 2000 years ago they built structures like that, and here we are today with big useless oversized monstrosities of windmills in the middle of fields and seas .... and this is the 21st century.

Disposable lighters, candles, batteries and canned food all great I'd add bottled water and dried food flint and sanitary towels for lighting fires (good old survival tips courtesy of ex sas types)some basic medicines too and means to defend yourself But a radio wtf for, being warm and comfortable with a full belly it’s bad enough being lied to,trying to survive and knowing some lying politician is living the good life in a bunker and lying through his/her teeth sod that. Bottled water is bulky and heavy, we have two large water butts and steri tabs. I'm not talking about a survival situation, I'm talking about coping with power cuts, possibly lengthy power cuts. If at any point we are faced with a survival situation your first thought should be weapons and defending what you have. in a survival situation i can create drinking water from a solar still using the brackish water in the usk estuary 400 yards away. And first priority will be relocating Sarah and Melissa from up the hill. I need their prowess with the Longbow for the issue you mentioned.

The problem is that at the moment there is no 'green' technology that is commercially viable - they (windmills, EV's, heat pumps, wave generation, etc) all need taxpayer subsidy to become affordable.
Which is fine if you have the money available - in the middle of a recession with tax receipts struggling not so much.

We had a Tory government from 2015. The Lib Dems got a few minor concessions, they were then ignored as the Tories continued to run the country. How much influence do you think John Prescott had over New Labour?
