The simple reason why the British people voted to leave the European Union was because those that championed the Remain campaign were unable to put forward persuasive arguments that the future prospects of the UK population would be best served by being ruled by unelected Germans in Brussels. The folly of Ms Merkel and the subsequence impotence of Van de Layan in dealing with the rampant invasion of Europe by those that don't live here, and also the failings in the various EU countries economies are quite a sound barrier to those who wish to rejoin. School children who are subject to relentless propaganda may well think being "European" is desirable, but once they grow up, get jobs, travel and look to their future it is extremely improbable that they will choose to put their well being in the hands of our natural enemies. Spot on. So glad we're out.

No, its not interfearence in British politics, its not interfearance of any kind what so ever, it is a leading European politician giving her opinion on the future of the United Kingdom. Its the kind of thing that forum members do on these boards every day, we are all entitled to our opinions. Further more - Mrs Von der leyen is 100% correct, and I have always stuck by the claim that the UK will rejoin, at some point in the future. The reasons been are blatantly obvious, because the vote was very heavily age biased, with younger age groups been majority in favour of REMAIN, and the over 50s been heavily in favour of LEAVE, and this has not changed, except to say that those who would now vote REMAIN are in the majority, seven and a half years after the referendum. If the current trend continues, then the demands to revisit the question cannot be ignored, it will happen, its going to happen whether you like it or not. Its simply a matter of when, how far into the future. Yet we have an ageing population which would suggest a bigger margin would vote leave And another group that thought the Sky would fall in after Brexit yet now realise it was project fear.
