They could unilaterally declare a cease fire for a period of time after which they would release a few named hostages ... with the threat of executing them if Israel breaks the cease fire. They could repeat this for a prolonged period of time.

So they'd still have illegally abducted hostages to hold for ransom then?
Unacceptable.

They could strap suicide belts to themselves, march out into the desert and blow themselves up.
That would be the best thing they could do.

They could admit defeat and surrender their leaders, but they won't, because they haven't achieved their objective.

For all I know, they may have more than one objective, but it appears their primary objective is to replace Israel with an Islamic Palestinian state.

Then they're better off marching themselves into the desert and blowing themselves up.
Less chance of innocents ending up as collateral damage that way.
(Not that Hamas, their supporters or apologists care about that).

They could repeat this for a prolonged period of time. And Israel could threaten to shoot 10 Hamas prisoners every day until they surrender. But that won't happen either. Israel will have to prosecute the war to remove Hamas as a threat. I'm not sure that is even completely possible. Once the current truce is over they will continue to destroy Hamas, and will have to do their best to not kill the hostages and not kill the good Palestinians. That is, the ones who were cheering Hamas as every vehicle with hostages left Gaza.

I don't think that Hamas are evaluating their options quite as objectively as those on the outside of the situation might. Their point of view is necessarily subjective, and they are apparently undeterred by slim odds because they're struggling for their survival. That's how both sides view this conflict.

That's how both sides view this conflict. I don't think it is: Hamas are ideologically dedicated to the eradication of Israel and the destruction of the Jews. Whereas Israelis just want to live in peace and are fighting for survival.

Whereas Israelis just want to live in peace and are fighting for survival. I think both sides frame this as a fight for their survival. It's why they each want to annihilate the other. They see that as the only satisfactory conclusion. There isn't enough trust or goodwill between them to settle for a two state solution.

Well the Israelis are not going to eradicate all of the Palestinians because many of them live in Israel and the surrounding countries. On the other hand Hamas could eradicate all Israelis as they have nowhere else to go..

"Turkey-Hamas collaboration is facilitated by SADAT, a private military contractor in Turkey led by an Islamist general with close ties to Erdogan. Israeli security officials believe that SADAT is responsible for supplying Hamas with weapons and materiel".
Erdogan described the current situation in Gaza as a "flare up".
Is Turkey's admission to the EU still being considered?

Personally I believe that everyone deserves a homeland, but Netanyahu is not going to allow the Palestinians a state.

No he is not - but we have had many Israeli leaders who did want to allow the Palestinians a State and their offers came to nowt.. Perhaps after all these refusals the 2 state solution is dead and constant low level attrition is now the norm.
