I don't think it is: Hamas are ideologically dedicated to the eradication of Israel and the destruction of the Jews.
Whereas Israelis just want to live in peace and are fighting for survival.
Sadly, it now looks like the Israelis only WANTED to live in peace but a 150 years of hatred and conflict by so many of the Arab populations (even though there were signs of improved relations in some areas) has derailed their original objective.
Well the Israelis are not going to eradicate all of the Palestinians because many of them live in Israel and the surrounding countries.

If you read my prior post, I was refuting the "Israelis have nowhere else to go" mantra that is given in justification of their war objectives. Since fewer than half of the global population of Jews live in Israel, it is a patent falsehood to claim that they have nowhere else to go. They are all over the world, and almost as many live in the US as live in Israel.

No he is not - but we have had many Israeli leaders who did want to allow the Palestinians a State and their offers came to nowt..
Perhaps after all these refusals the 2 state solution is dead and constant low level attrition is now the norm.
I suspect the Israeli leaders accept this and will periodically’ Mow the lawn’.
This probably suits both sides - then neither have to make any difficult concessions for peace and the continuous low level conflict is acceptable ongoing.
