Why do the authorities shut the traffic? if these idiots want to glue themselves to gantries fine, they will come down once it starts raining, if they fall off into the path of a speeding artic then it will be a saltatory lesson well learnt.

At least one those offenders today has a court order in place to keep them off the M25, well they've just breached their court order, the courts can send them directly to prison, no messing about, let them appeal and make sure their case isn't heard until after the New Year, they'll soon stop their antics if they think they are going to be locked up over Christmas and New Year. In your opinion. These people actually believe in what they are doing and being in custody over Christmas is a sort of Martyrdom. A belief in what you are doing does not mean you are right, nor does it mean that you can enforce others to adopt that which you believe by forcing the issue. There is little public support for what they are doing and in the end what changes things is public opinion overall, not just who shouts the loudest. When the EDL were marching to protest radical Islam being preached in Mosques the left were in support of those who were violent against them becaseu they said the EDL were a small extremist group. I think most people support the physical removal of the Just stop Oil protestors by the public becaseu it is felt they are a small extreme group who are not calling for change they are making demands for change. |

My problem with Greta and groups like Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil, is that they have a narrative that our leaders have done nothing, which is utter bullshit.
If you hit the headlines and get a platform, why waste it on over the top arguments? The world has done nothing, you have stolen my future, the world is going to be inhabitable in 20 years, every disaster being an example of climate change etc These over-the-top arguments just make them look like toddlers having a tantrum and their arguments loose validity.
I remember my teachers trying to scare us to death about the hole in ozone, it is nothing new to run with the extreme prediction. We will find a way, but it has to be pragmatic change, at a reasonable pace.

Their actions certainly meet the definition.
1) They are not threatening anyone, they are peacefully sitting in the road and do not struggle when violently dragged away. 2) They are advancing a green ideological cause and it would not matter which government was in power. 3) They are from all religious denominations. 4) They are from all racial backgrounds. 5) They are, with Tory consent, being threatened by the public. |

People will be richer and more satisfied when they can get to work on time and the eco-protesters should consider ho much pollution is being caused by blocking road. Sick people will be happier getting medical help and some even glad that it saved their life. The government could stop a lot of these protests by stating that they will look towards fully insulating the housing stock in this country, but they won't they love the division it is creating. While the people of this country are fighting each other the Tories continue to rip us off. |
