Well is that not how democracy works? For goodness sake we could have anyone demanding anything and blocking all sorts of things because they believe implicitly if we do not all stand on our heads and sing Jerusalam then the world will end at 4pm on the 19th Nov. Protesting is the action of making your point heard with minimal disruption to others as per almost every demonstration I can recall for the past sixty years except CND and they were removed from the highway pdq. What is a climate disaster denier? Is there a problem with climate change? Possibly. Will that affect us badly? Maybe. Is the science settled? Far from it. Have the models given accurate predictions in the last thirty years? Seems not. Is it a means to control the populace? Probably. Should we listen to the soothsayers of doom? With care. Is there extreme amounts of hypocrisy surrounding the whole climate change edifice and programme. Undoubtedly. It is a democratic freedom for people to protest. You are then. It is indeed. It is not a democratic freedom to block the highway no matter which way you look at it. Otherwise any minority could block any highway just to make demands for their own particular beef. I am sure people blocking the road until their demand to stop illegal immigration was met would not be popular either although I suspect it would receive more sympathy. It is your definition, if you say so. I prefer to view it as considering all points of view, many of which do not gel with the disaster narrative. |
