PRESS RELEASE
Today, the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) marks the beginning of Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM) 2023. This year, we observe IAM against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Palestine and an exceptionally hostile political environment for British Muslim communities.
This year’s theme is #MuslimStories, it is therefore important for us to share the lived experience of British Muslims. In terms of Islamophobic hate crime alone, per Home Office data, where the perceived religion of the victim was recorded, 2 in 5 of all religious hate crime offences were targeted against Muslims, as of March 2023. As such, 39% of all religiously motivated hate crimes targeted Muslims, making Muslims the most targeted faith group.
Strange times — until recently, it's been verbal animosity and physical attacks on Jewish people that seem to have received the most publicity in the UK...

According to your link, Islamophobic hate crime is going down as a proportion of religious hate crime; 47% in 2019, 45% in 2021 and 39% in 2023. Sounds like good news if you are a Muslim.
It would be interesting to know the religion of the other 61% of the victims of such crimes though.

In France, since October 7th, more than 1500 anti Jewish hate incidents (including murders) whereas for a whole year, 2022 it was around 500, so a x24 increase. I wonder who is responsible for these?

Has it ? I never hear the Jewish communities complaining much until the Muslims start roaming the streets shouting Jihad and suchlike . I dont hear much of white people complaining much either till a terror attack on our communities by some drug deranged Muslim seeking his virgin party decides today is the day . Allah fecking Akba , Muslims are not victims of hate they are instigators of it

Allah fecking Akba , Muslims are not victims of hate they are instigators of it I reckon people often don't hear what they don't want to hear. Or perhaps it's because Islamophobia has recently overtaken anti-Semitism among those in the general population always looking for a group to be against.
From House of Commons Home Affairs Committee on "Antisemitism in the UK", back in 2016-17:
Our inquiry was prompted by concerns expressed to us about an increase in prejudice and violence against Jewish communities in the UK, along with an increase in far-right extremist activity. Many of the developments outlined above, and discussed in detail later in this report, occurred after we announced this inquiry on 12 April 2016.
Anti-Jewish feeling has been common throughout the British Isles for centuries — it didn't start with Shakespeare and end in 1938 with the first of the Jewish Kindertransport...

LOL , you forgot to mention the antisemitism enquiry in 2016-17 was instigated by the Labour party . One Jeremy Corbyn in fact following the suspension of Ken Livingstone for saying stuff supporting Hitler and another labour MP who said Isreal should be moved to the United States . Of course the Marxist will blame anyone but themselves , the invisible 'Far Right' whoever they are always being the prime suspects especially with the likes of Chakribati overseeing the show . The short government response was to clarify the governments stance in reply to that inquiry (well thats how I remember it ) I don't recognise the Britain you describe ,In my 50 or so years the only trouble Ive ever seen is the IRA ,blacks rioting for free telly's and the terrorist attacks by Muslims . The Jewish people have always been good as gold (pun intended)

BLM obviously need something more than colour to hide behind. A strange alliance, but it is all coming out of the USA.

I don't see how, considering Muslims massively outnumber Jews in this country. Are you sure you're not trolling, Pat?
There's also been ~700% increase in attacks toward Jews in this country in the last month or so, and we all know where it's coming from.

Religious hate crime is very much in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. If someone says I think Islam is a crock then that becomes a religious hate crime. There is capital in being the most discriminated against.

I think you're confusing two completely different issues PP. There is NO comparison between Islamophobia and anti-semitism. Islamophobia is a dislike/fear of a religion (Islam), which is entirely legal (and indeed rational) but anti-semitism is a dislike of a people because of their "race" which is illegal (and irrational). The confusion arises because of the APPG definition "Islamophobia" (which was drawn up by a muslim, of course) which attempts to define the word as an attack on "muslimness" - although they never define what that is. The APPG definition is NOT agreed and shouldn't be used as a definition. It's an attempt to make islamophobia a dislike of muslims - which would be illegal. It's legal to attack a religion (a belief) but NOT to attack the people who hold that belief. I think this aspect of law is very strange but that's our law. The purpose of this sly redefinition of the word islamophobia is to try to reintroduce the law of blasphemy by the back door (for islam only). So muslims now regard attacks on their beliefs as illegal. For example if someone says that islam is incompatible with British culture they class that as an islamophobic attack and it's included in the figures for a hate crime when it's no such thing. It's a perfectly rational view to hold and does NOT imply an attack on people who believe islam. We can have debates with people of entirely different views without hating them for their views - most people can anyway, but muslims do seem to have difficulty with people who don't like islam. Once you understand this you can begin to look at this "islamophobia awareness" stuff a bit more rationally. And if you remove all the "hate incidents" that involve attacks on islam (rather than attacks on muslims) I think you'd find that attacks on muslims are remarkably few - which can't be said for anti-semitic attacks. And I think you'll also find that anti-semitic attacks are largely perpetrated by muslims.

Jew-baiting and Pakistani-bashing were enjoyed by the NF and BNP, and still are by their various descendant groups and others. I doubt there’s much difference in law between them an anti-semitism and Islamophobia…

Phobia - quote:
A phobia is a persistent, excessive, unrealistic fear of an object, person, animal, activity or situation. It is a type of disorder. A person with a phobia either tries to avoid the thing that triggers the fear, or endures it with great anxiety and distress.
In other words, the term 'Islamophobia' is a non word. It's nonsense.

There is no such thing as Islamophobia. Phobias are irrational fears. Islam is a religion with a lot of cruelty and violence in it. skepticsannotatedbible.com/all/cr_list.htmlIt isn't irrational to be wary of cruel / violent teachings. It is irrational to bully people for no other reason than they're Muslim, but that's not Islamophobia, that's anti Muslim hatred. Do not conflate the two. Islamophobia is a fantasy. Anti Muslim hatred is real and should be opposed.
