Try the ready reckoner. Search 'University of Cambridge ranking' and you will see it is anything between 2nd and 8th in the world or thereabouts. I've got to ask, where on earth is that land of the smart people you must be comparing them against? Abbott is an idiot . If Cambridge produced Abbott then at least one idiot has managed to enter Cambridge university and gain a degree. Go figure . You put the cart before the horse.
Abbott got into Cambridge + Cambridge did not get to its high ranking by letting in idiots therefore the likelihood is that Abbott is smart and those who think she is dumb are not smart enough to follow her reasoning, hence they see it the other way around in assuming they are smart.
You can sure argue with that with a whole load of what aboutary, but please note my argument here is entirely objective that she is likely to be smart. The other bit I admit is a hypothesis. She might have had a bump on the head at some point I suppose, but still the nagging problem is we are still on the more likely to be smart as far as objectivity is concerned. Me personally, she is far too leftwing, but when I've heard her argue it has been coherent. You have to bear in mind she is Jamaican as well, so some of what she sounds like is to be understood in the Jamaican cultural sense. Jamaicans have a different idea about the world and are generally cheery optimistic people. It's a sunshine state you see.

There’s no argument that she is an idiot and a fool. You are using a circular argument that she is a product of Cambridge. All products of Cambridge university are extremely clever . Therefore she is extremely clever. Maybe she got a whack on the head the day after she graduated.

Therefore she is extremely clever. Maybe she got a whack on the head the day after she graduated. It was not my argument. My argument says Cambridge is extremely clever due to its independent ranking. Then we use inductive logic to say how could Cambridge achieve such ranking unless its admissions system was very good at screening the right applicants. In fact the way it works is the applicants are good and later on many will teach there as well, so it all comes down the admissions system over a long time frame to build it up. Indeed the way I see it is a good first order approximation to use if we have nothing else to go on. I could argue against myself by talking about Johnson of course but I think his talents were in lying.

It’s quite obvious that Abbot isn’t by any means a clever person . The fact that she graduated from Cambridge doesn’t mean that all Cambridge graduates are as stupid as her but it does mean that Cambridge has produce a rather stupid graduate. You seem to be making a great effort and using a great deal of verbiage to deny this .

It all comes from two indisputable facts.1) she went to Cambridge and 2) Cambridge is independently ranked close to the top. Circular arguments are the kind based on themselves. This is not that.

It’s a classic circular argument . Cambridge produces clever people . She graduated at Cambridge therefore she is clever. It’s based on circular reasoning . What you should be contemplating, is how an idiot ( not in the literal sense but a rather dim witted buffoon nonetheless ) managed to graduate at a university known for its excellence.

You do not understand the circular bit in a circular argument. Mine is an inductive argument and you aught to familiarise yourself with that and then you would stop calling induction circular. One usually illustrates the inductive argument using the smoking gun. The observation is smoke from the gun, we then look at what could have caused it and in the giun's case it is almost certainly that it had been fired. Inductive arguments are hard to use because you have to cover every possibility and if all other things are ruled out you know the argument is correct. In knowing this I did say unlikely hence acknowledging this uncertainty.

I once got called a racist for saying I love Dianne Abbott a constant source of amusement. I know, she is a funny woman. She's perfected the knack of getting Daily Mail readers in fits.

Abbott hold a degree in History from Cambridge, exactly like the current governor of the Bank of England. Those who laugh at her and think they are smarter are likely not the sort who would get into Cambridge. After all it is one of the world's top universities. Abbott achieved a lower second class degree. Not exactly top of the range is it?

Wiki only seems to mention grades when it is a first.
