Bad news from last month - total car sales up 8% but EV sales down 17%!. Also residuals in the used market collapsing - if you want a second hand EV then now might be the time to buy although incredibly bad news for those that did buy new and obviously frightening away potential future buyers. Where do you charge them? The nearest charging points here are either in Plymouth or Exeter and there is.no guarantee that they will be working for those who visit these charging points. And even if they are working they are at the back of the que.

But the problem is 'time'. It takes five minutes to fill my, or indeed your tank with delicious diesel. It takes two hours to 'part charge' an EV, and if you don't move it immediately you may be charged a penalty of £1 per minute for every minute you're late - linkDepends. Most times I fill MINE up it takes me no time. I plug it in when I get home (10 seconds) and that's it. No driving into a fuel station or walking to the shop. And my fuel costs £1.10 a gallon (equivalent) So on a long trip (More than 150 miles) you win It takes me longer. But on all those hundreds of everyday trips, I win. Both in time and cost. YOU DONT OWN AN EV …….FFS You own a hybrid .

Happy days another year of trouble free motoring.

It's in another thread called China Tech These is no charger made that can charge an EV in 5 minutes Baron. Every so often we have these announcements about superior chargers or batteries for EV's and they all turn out to be pie in the sky and a figment of some idiots imagination.

They will have 100 000 of these charging stations by the end of next year. This is what the firm announced at its conference. I don't care if you believe it or not though. You may end up looking like a flat earther if they install these and you still think it is BS.

New chargers will charge a car in five minutes. Full charge in five minutes with current battery technology? You may have to provide a link before I believe you. In fact, you will definately have to provide a link... Who knows if they will turn up in the UK. Remember we banned their telephone exchanges.
I cross-referenced this with some other report from Australia. CATL's 1000km range battery pack is designed to charge at this rate according to reports in China.
We have a problem though selling EVs on the EU market due to the rules of origin. So much has to be made in the EU + Britain in order to qualify for tariff-free trade when selling, or else they hit us with a 10% tax (I think). You can see the problem though. How the fuck are we going to sell cars that take 5 hours to charge agaisnt cheaper ones that do double the range and charge in 5m!

Its just pie i the sky Baron. What business sense is there in announcing publicly what a corporation can not deliver? You tell me Baron? China uses fewer EV's than the rest of the globe. And how they think they charge a litheum battery in 5 minutes whithout incurring a thermal runaway is know only to themselves
EDIT You do know huwahwie products are banned in the UK don't you Baron?

Lithium batteries were invented a long time ago, but the first ones had totally shit performance and so bad they were not taken seriously. Looking at the history of their development the performance was raised little by little with new research until what we have today, which is many times as powerful and far cheaper. CATL started from some really smart researcher from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the world's top science institution, and since then they have poured billions into R & D. They are the world leaders in battery technology and it is why Tesla use them. BYD is the other top leader with similar investment in the research. I would guess the Huawei firm has been having a bit of a chinwag with CATL people. You see Huawei now have their own EV car. It's a really crazy beast and looks more like a spaceship inside, like packed with computers and other wizardry.
Regarding the banning of the firm. Well recall how it was with cars in the soviet union. They did not progress very well. That's what happens if you close your market off to competition.

Your explanation of the ban is inadequate. If it was all about competition then why wasn't OnePlus, Xiaomi or any of the others banned?

I dont need no education about batteries Baron. I have probably forgot more than you know on the subject. And as for Huwahwie being banned it had fuck all to do with cmpetition. They were caught red handed at introducing the spyware they were building into the UK's 5G network.

I think used EV's are a real issue, very few people want an EV with a range of only 120 miles. My son lost a load selling his Nissan leaf when he upgraded.
