That post could suggest a great deal of virtue signalling in three sentences . The idea that the ones who want the UK to rush blindly into net zero care and the ones who fear that the UK will impoverish itself with very little effect on global emissions do not is really quite sickening . Yeah whatever roll out the virtue signalling and the snowflake. Labels to silence people. Well I care about people so I'm a snowflake and I say I care about people so I'm a virtue signaller. NEVER LET THE NAME CALLING STOP YOU CARING OR SAYING YOU CARE. Nope. The constant virtue signalling puts the premise in context . You even added the snowflake . “ I am a caring person because I can indulge myself with a hybrid and heat pump. By the way anyone who cares about impoverishing the UK for the small effect in world temperatures and refutes my idea that the UK owes the world it’s impoverishment because of past technologies doesn’t care “.

We invite 500,000+ people to come here so we can get the growth we need to keep our tax from rising, but we don't want to build homes for them. Yet another attempt to screw the people of the UK. If immigrants really were the economic silver bullet you implicitly claim, we wouldn't feel the extra cost of building houses for them (see the definition of the word 'costs' vs the word 'benefits' in a dictionary). One reason people complain is because it is clearly a net drain. It's great for expanding the power of the public sector though, as British society and the independent economic viability is gradually eroded Wrong again. I am against more immigration our country is overcrowded. My point is that if you import people to stop you having to pay more tax, then you must build enough houses for them. Claiming the shortage of housing is the immigrants fault for accepting the invite to come here is just lazy. Blaming lefties for wanting an open door policy is lazy and ignorant. Lefties haven't invited millions of migrants here over the last 13 years. The people we voted in have. Of course its not an economic silver bullet, its a sticking plaster, bring a new lot every year to pay last years bills and bugger next years. Short term. But its ALL driven by our greed, we don't want to pay those costs so we elect a government that promises no tax rises, so funds them with immigration. They laugh at you blaming the immigrants and people like me. They love your stupidity in believing the bloggers and the press.

I am a caring person because I care. I do far more than just put in heart pumps and own a hybrid, but I'm not discussing what I and my company does to help the country I love. Want to increase tax on the wealthy? Sign me up, I've got plenty, I can afford a bit more. Will you sign up? I don't agree that net zero will impoverish Britain, there's loads of money, its just all with too few people.

Scotland has suffered such rainfall before, many times, landslides have blocked roads before especially The Rest and be Thankful and Glen Ogle, rail lines have been washed away before, crops have been lost before. It is all within the risk parameters of living there. What you are doing is taking an extreme, but not unprecedented, weather event and saying it is directly attributable to the rise in CO2 for which there is no direct evidence and many other possible/probable/contributing factors may be at work. Some of the photographs I have seen are underbridges where drains are often blocked by autumn leaf fall and in Scotland the leaf fall is well underway. There is no such thing as a free ride but it is often necessary to know that the man asking for the fare is capable of both ensuring the ride requested and in fact has chosen the correct direction of travel. Everyone but you knows records are being broken left right and centre. Scotland has not had a months rain in one day in living history. What is a month's worth of rain? Records are 'broken' regularly in rainfall and temp records as we have only got about 100 years of accurate records and what is 'living history'? Do you mean that any living person can remember or do you mean rainfall records. 13 years ago a village of Southwaite Cumbria held the record which was much higher than the Scottish rainfall. Extreme localised weather events are fairly common in the weather record and no doubt the climate is changing, as climate does by the mere fact of being climate. What you did was say it was CO2 to blame and therefore the royal 'we'. I live in SW Scotland and we had heavy rain, go back 15 years and a weather event destroyed our access road. This we call climate an ever changing entity with no 'normal' just probables.

The only argument you have against climate change is to call it a religion and then make up shit around that. The argument I have is there are too many people on the planet if you think that’s as you put it made up shit that’s your prerogative but it’s you that put this topic in the mind zone but apparently are happy rather than answer reduce your counter to labelling another’s opinion as shit. Might as well have put it on the main forum, but that’s just my opinion. It's not simply too many people on the planet. It's too many people in developed countries using and wasting too many resources. It isn't places like Africa with its rising populations but very low levels of consumption causing the problems. As Zany points out it's just another way of blaming Johnny Foreigner and avoiding personal responsibility.

But I don't blame the immigrants I blame the policy of immigration and people like yourself. You have three or so basic positions. Increased the power the public sector, as a way of dis-empowering the British public (basically trying to turn the UK into a totalitarian communist state) Increased national debt, as a way of dis-empowering the British public Massive third world migration as a way of dis-empowering the British public - here you are trying to pretend we are caught in a dilemma and have to chose at least two of the above.

I've said twice now that I don't. I care about people and I care about the planet. I'm sure you really struggle with the idea of caring, but that's it. That post could suggest a great deal of virtue signalling in three sentences . The idea that the ones who want the UK to rush blindly into net zero care and the ones who fear that the UK will impoverish itself with very little effect on global emissions do not is really quite sickening . Rush blindly? We've had 40 or 50 years of science warning us about this and still there are people wanting to kick the can down the road for future generations to deal with. We are still wasting time discussing why when we should be discussing how. When is now and we are already too late. Who is all of us.

Well TBF Zany like others probably you too say we in the UK have a major responsibility going back to the dawn of the industrial revolution and we're blaming it all on the here and now but he and I doubt you wont accept that because for all the finger pointing at opposing views you are as bad as you allege they?we are.

We are still wasting time discussing why when we should be discussing how. When is now and we are already too late. Who is all of us. The problem is however that they have been warning us of the dire consequences that were soon to be realised if we did not act differently and as the time of the predictions came and went the dire consequences did not materialise. The arctic melting did not happen, the runaway warming did not happen, the increased extreme weather events did not happen, the heat events did not happen, the flooding, the storms, the typhoons, the rising sea levels all did not happen as predicted. They have overegged the pudding to get the populace on board and now the populace sees it for the exaggeration it always was. If we follow the science we are reasonably expected to observe science not only telling the truth but in general being accurate. So far both aspects are lacking.

I care about the UK rushing into net zero when they should take a more pragmatic approach. That makes me a very caring person, whereas the ones trying to justify rushing into net zero because of guilt and their skewed sense of history dont care at all. Yes there’s lots of money in the bank ..let’s just unlock the vaults and spend it on heat pumps and hybrid cars.

If we are already too late then we should invest in mitigating the effects and persuade the countries with the highest pollution rates to reduce them . There’s little point in telling little Johnny not to pee in the shallow end when there is an army of little Johnnys shitting in the deep end .

This we call climate an ever changing entity with no 'normal' just probables. Dream on. The arguments been had, the world decided it is AGW. I'm not wasting anymore time arguing that bit. I'm interested in whether we pay to try and reverse AGW or pay for not trying to reverse it.

We need level headed pragmatic objective decisions not shrill subjective ones based on blame and wishful thinking.
