ZG, thousands of people in this country sleep rough, thousands of kids don't have a bed to call their own and go to school hungry. Yet the government can afford £8 million a day on hotels for mainly young Muslim men who are fleeing the terror of war torn France. I'm charitable, but charity starts at home. We have problems enough without importing more. The stupid way we deal with them we can agree on. blaming France, No. That they are young men, so what. Young men want a future, just as we did. That charity begins at home is so true and were our government switching money from migrant hotels to homeless Brits I would have little argument, but all I see is them lining the pockets of the already filthy rich and getting themselves non exec directorships. France is not a dangerous country. It is absolutely ridiculous that an economic migrant can travel from Africa, though several borderless EU states, pay a people trafficker to get him across the channel, then once on an English beach claim to be a refugee or asylum seeker. In years to come historians will look back on the early 21st century and wonder why on earth our politicians allowed it.

Its not about whether or not France is safe. Its about whether France should take all the migrants and us none, just because they are nearer the trouble. You will never see that I know, because its so inconvenient.

And I say again, the European immigrant disaster was designed and implemented from behind closed doors in Brussels, it's an EU problem. The British government's first responsibility should be the safety security and welfare of the UK and British people. African criminals who the EU encouraged to come to Europe is not our problem. Not now, not ever.

This is one of life’s mysteries. Why are right wingers so keen to deny being right wingers and pretend they are central in some way. Being right wing is perfectly legitimate. Why not own it though? Ok then, I'm right wing.
Although I'm a current trade union member, and former Lib Dem voter.
But hey if, in Drippy World, that makes me right wing then I'll own it.
More likely that drippy & co are left wing extremists, however...
Thanks for clearing that up. I always assumed your username implied you thought you were in the middle.

Blimey another thread diverted to talking about asylum (getting most of the facts wrong as usual).
In practice few people are entirely “left” or “right” and will have a mixture of opinions across the spectrum but will tend on the whole to lean one way or the other.
Increasingly the internet is starting to drive people into one camp or the other and starting to indoctrinate them such that they are fully (say) right wing and agree with anything the right wing say. Not a good development IMHO.

I don't! Strange thing to say. You said the EU are responsible for the immigrant problem, they're not, membership of the ECHR is to blame. Don't blame Brussels. Did the ECHR open job centres in Africa? Did the ECHR welcome African illegals and announce to the world 'we can manage'? Did the ECHR announce that any African who crossed the Med and set foot on EU soil would not be returned? No of course not. But the EU did. The unelected bureaucrats who govern from behind closed doors in Brussels are the architects of the European migration disaster.
