Some posters in here are Dinosaurs, no wonder they are Tory supporters, so out of touch with reality. If you cannot accept that speed limitations are often a good idea in residential areas or around schools, then theres no hope. The unbelievabale rubbish that is posted in here shows just exactly why the Tory Party is at war with itself Yes some are dinosaurs namely yourself and rr etc. This may come as a surprise its 2023 not 1939 nazi Germany.

well once you strip out your usual tedious insults, you also claimed "buses are being cancelled" without any evidence. www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/23727410.bus-routes-newport-chepstow---20mph-brings-changes/Every bus service in Newport is impacted The twat paid £82k to be the main assembly member for newpirt quoted me this piece which gives the 20 limit as only the third reason for the change It’s a masterpiece of labour and cottage burner bollox that, and you need to understand that’s because itbe company is owned by the council and run like an old style union, political officers and all. Of all the routes listed only three are being ‘rationalised’ as a result of non use, every other one is thanks to a 20’s Plenty Wanker Including the cancellation that cost my eldest her second job. Be careful who you accuse of bullshit lest those who know it to be truth (her, not me, she memorises the journey times like her life depends on it - which it does, really) make you regret your accusation.

That's the point — slower zones are set up where they're needed.
But it's the blanket imposition, as in Hackney (and no doubt by other authorities), on some previously 30mph roads that are often able to carry two or three lanes of traffic in the same direction — coming on top of the installation of widespread blocking of streets to motor traffic — that has irritated local drivers and even residents of affected streets.
TfL has realised that restricting some roads, like Islington's Upper Street and Holloway Road, would cause problems, so these are exempt. I guess we have to hope TfL's own observations will show what other 20mph restricted roads (like much of the A10) will cause traffic problems, and revert to previous restrictions...
Why are people who drive given priority over pedestrians and cyclists? Have you read the latest edition of the Highway Code? If so I’m surprised you’ve not noticed the hierarchy of priorities…

The unbelievabale rubbish that is posted in here shows just exactly why the Tory Party is at war with itself Not sure that you’re getting the majority feeling. I don’t think any sensible driver, on here or elsewhere, objects to enforceable speed limits where they increase safety — doesn’t Blackwall Tunnel has a minimum 10mph limit because of this? What’s objected to is the blanket and haphazard impositions of speed limits, and other restrictions, at the whims of seemingly unqualified activists without any real research into the effect or outcome of what’s proposed — other than citing school physics examples of lighter weights, and slower speeds (with the fervour displayed by deranged anti-vaxxers) of objects hitting other objects leave less of a dent. Walking passengers rarely end up being struck by trains or buses — even though pedestrians are often within a few centimetres of speeding transport vehicles. It’s only recently that it’s been judged that passengers of some DLR station are likely to walk into the path of the trains. Are we evolving without the nous of our forebears…?
